GERARD..The morning was quiet. Too quiet for someone who was lying beside a person. For a moment, I had believed he was still here. If I turn around, I’d find Tommy, sleeping peacefully. But when I turned the bed was empty. The only thing left of him was his scent, clinging to the sheets, my skin.I sat up slowly, the blankets tangled around my waist. My thoughts even more so.My body still tingled as I remembered how his body melted against mine. How I’d almost lost control and gone all the way in. But he was too tight, and I didn’t want to hurt him. So, we stuck to jerking and fingering. While relishing the aftertaste of last night, a thought struck me. Cold and sharp, sending a shiver down my spine. If I didn't turn Tommy into an Alpha, he’d hate me. I’d never be able to have him like this.I grunted. I had to create that drug. It was the only way I could touch Tommy without feeling like a thief.I jolted out of bed, slipped into my pajamas, headed home, and prepared for work.

TOMMY..Everything felt wrong. The way the air stilled like time had gone on strike. The way his fingers lingered on his glasses like he had forgotten they were there.Dr. Nathan’s lips twitched, once, twice, and then he said. “Is that your new doctor handling your case? Never heard of him.” He stared at me, too focused. “Did he sign a disclosure contract?”He acted like he was concerned, but something about the way his voice thinned like someone was strangling him.A part of me wanted to probe further. But squeezing the truth out of someone was never my area of expertise. I was sure I wouldn’t be able to get any information out of him just like I couldn’t get any out of Foxen.I smiled, quick and stiff. “He’s a specialist in Alpha and omega medicine, and since you’re one too, I thought you might know each other…”His body stiffened.“…But never mind, I just came here for a test.”“Alright.” Dr. Nathan rose and left his office.A few minutes later he was back, gesturing for me to f

Tommy..“Let’s talk,” I said, gesturing for Gerard to follow me.We moved a few meters away from Raphael, and I began, “Let’s take him along.” My voice was loud enough for only him to hear.“Are you sure?” Gerard’s gaze held mine. “If Raphael finds out about you becoming an Omega, he might call off the engagement.”I knew that, and My father would definitely not let me live to see the next day.A groan lurked at the back of my throat, but I held it. “I know. But if we leave him behind, he’ll go running and crying to my father,” I said, “I already have ninety-nine problems; let’s not make it a hundred.”“But there’s no way I can treat you without him noticing it.”I sighed. “Let’s tell him I’m sick. Just cook up any medical ailments that sound believable. Alpha Cancer, genetic mutation—use every weapon in your arsenal. But he shouldn’t know I’m becoming an omega.”Gerard smiled. “I’ll make it convincing.”We met up with Raphael, and when we told him we could go together, his eyes sp

Tommy..They’d returned hours ago. Raphael with that glow of satisfaction, Gerard with shopping bags like he was some butler. And since then I've mastered the art of avoidance.Gerard has asked if I wanted to share a drink with them. I’d say no. He’d asked if I wanted to stroll around the house—another no.Although the words came out easily, they’d always left a bitter taste. Now, I sat, tucked into the study table. The laptop screen glowed as I worked.A knock came again—the same soft rhythm. Sighing, I headed towards the door and opened it. Gerard was at my door again. But this time not alone. Raphael stood by his side, a grimace sharp on his face.“We’re heading out to the garden, you should come with us,” Gerard said, voice soft. “You’ve been holed up all day. You need fresh air.”The idea of fresh air felt so nice. But still, I couldn’t bring myself to say yes.I pointed to my laptop. “I’m quite busy,” I said, my voice too steady for the way my chest tightened. The corner of

Tommy ..I nudged for him to come in, and Gerard pushed himself off the floor. With a scowl, Raphael hissed. “Whatever.” He disappeared into his room, slamming the door.“That door has suffered, getting slammed twice in one day.” Gerard smiled softly before stepping in and closing the door behind him.I didn’t respond. I just settled at the edge of the bed.“I should apologize,” Gerard said, “I crossed a line. I didn’t understand what was going on between you and your brother. I shouldn’t have assumed.”Normally, I’d still be angry, yet the anger inside me thawed.“It’s fine,” I said, my lips tightening at the edges.“Maybe I just don’t get the brother dynamic of a thing.” Gerard settled beside me, a little too close. “Mine never really liked me.” He let out a short ragged laugh. My eyes flicked to him. “You have a brother?”The Vance were a popular family in the business world, and Gerard was as popular as the name. But there was no mention of a brother.“Yeah. I do.”“But you’ve n
