Chapter 121Author's POV Alpha Caden watched the garden using the cameras. He hadn't left his office since she had come out. He didn't want to be close to her, her presence was unholy. He hated the way his flesh recoiled from the thought of it. Something had to be done soon. Although the doubts he had begun to plant in Cassian's head were taking roots he could see it being destroyed soon. His son wasn't a complete fool. It wouldn't take too long to learn that some of those notes were created and false. He had planted them a while in the witch's house although he hadn't killed her. He felt a sort of gratitude to whoever had done the job for him. If he found them, they would receive an award from him. What if Cassian's search in the library yielded the truth. Alpha Caden wasn't sure what he would do then but he wouldn't let it happen. He watched Rhea, the way she moved. It was slow and deliberate, was she totally fine now?Lucian stood beside her a moment later and he wished he cou

Chapter 123Author's POV She didn't remember how she found her way back to her room in the infirmary but the next thing she knew, she was taking the herbs being served to her. Her hands shook as she took the cup from the healer. She hadn't been able to think clearly since she had heard those words. It was both pain and anger in her heart. They were treating like she was a temporary instance. As if there was no way in all this that her life was important. Nobody even cared about how she was feeling inside. All they could do was fear her. Fear what? She didn't even know for sure but she had seen it. Everyone was acting strange towards her. It hurt her but this had broken her even more. Cassian sighed and leaned down on the table, his eyes still on the council. “And this vote is not the final decision" he said and the murmurs began again. So many of them disagreed, the alpha couldn't override the council's decision. He nodded, “I know all about the rules but it doesn't change a few

Chapter 125Author's POV Alpha Caden had to make another move. He couldn't let anything get by him again. Yesterday he had seen weakness in Cassian. His son had gone to visit the witch. And nobody had told him, not until he had watched the cameras again. It seemed like things were slipping out of his hands. He could feel the powerful slipping out of his hands. He knew he had to change that quickly. Yesterday he had established some of it, not loyalty but fear. He would have to do that again. He was done trying to be the only reasonable one. If it would make him look mad, then he would do it. He would command and he would change everything into his game. If loyalty didn't make sense anymore, he would create fear. Anybody that dared to cross him would regret it forever. He had called Braden into his office. The man was waiting quietly for instructions. He knew that this was the only person he could trust. “I want you to make sure you keep your eyes on Rhea, don't do anything I have

Chapter 127 Author's POV Rhea felt her heart stop for a moment when he said what he did. They needed to talk. She sat up on the bed, unable to lay down and act as if it wasn't open. Her eyes found him across the room. He looked troubled, even with his wet hair that covered his eyes slightly which he quickly pushed away. “I'm listening," she said simply. She didn't know what else to say to him. Cassian swallowed hard and moved closer to her. “You haven't asked me anything about the council's decision" he started, watching her closely to see her reaction but there was none. Her face was still. She shrugged, “Well, I expected when one has been made that I'll be informed. Or am I too inhuman to have that as well? Maybe my powers have rendered me non-human, it depends on what you think" she mocked. Cassian sighed to himself. He deserved her words even though they were cut deep like knives. “You would be informed. I just thought you would be curious about it you know” he finished, not

Chapter 129Author's POV Cassian stared at the body that lay there. He couldn't believe his eyes for a moment, maybe it was all a dream. “Are you seeing this?" He turned to Lucian who had a look he couldn't decipher on his face. Lucian didn't say anything, he simply nodded and then turned around. Something niggled at the back of his mind, something was wrong. He didn't know what it was but it was there. The symbols, he knew he must have seen it somewhere else. He just forgot where. Cassian followed behind him, both of them going back to the main house. There was one goal in his mind and that was to find his father. “Something's wrong here, too wrong" he muttered, more to himself than Lucian who wasn't even paying any attention. Lucian had to take a moment, he had to think about what was in front of him. The conversation he had with Cassian all that time ago came back. The one father had told him, the one he hadn't been able to believe easily. All of it was too much at that moment.
