Chapter 101Author's POV Lucian raced through the halls almost as fast as his heart pounded against his ribcage. He needed to get to her. He could feel her slipping through his hands and for a moment he could almost see her on the floor, dead. Just as he reached the fourth floor he stopped, in front of him were two powerful wolves, snarling and in wait. The breach hadn't been complete and he would still have to fight through a couple more. His jaw flexed and his claws came out effortlessly. He would do whatever he had to, as long as he reached her in time. Back in the chamber, nothing much had changed and Alpha Caden was beginning to lose hope. That lost hope was building to anger. He turned to the witch, ready to ask her what she had done and why it hadn't worked when suddenly, his body on the slab wasn't lifeless anymore. Cassian let out a deep gasp as he took in air. He felt like he wanted to breathe in all the air and like he was under water at the same time. There was a despe

Chapter 103Author's POV There was a white sound, nothing in the room existed for a moment. It was so much and nothing at all, Lucian wasn't even sure where he was for a minute. He was blind and nothing happened. But then, slowly the white light exited and everything came back to focus. She was still in his arms, her body still and her breathing was there - steady and quiet. That was all that mattered to him, the heat was gone too. He looked up then and noticed the ruin that the chamber was left in. The walls were cracked, some of them were rumbles on the ground. There were sigils burned into the ground where she laid, strange he noted. He wasn't the only one to notice that. Both Cassian and Caden who had been stunned and were still in shock stared at the disaster. Lyra had fallen to the ground at the entrance - her head pounded with a headache. Several guards lay on the ground in an unconscious heap. Their eyes were closed so that for a moment they looked dead but their hearts s

Chapter 105Author's POV A day had passed and Lucian hadn't set his eyes on her. He hadn't seen Cassian or Alpha Caden either. The palace was quiet, only the sounds of rebuilding rang through. There was an emptiness in him - an anxiety he couldn't place. All he wanted at that moment was to see Rhea. He didn't care what he had to do and he set out to do so. He knew where to find his father, his war room and that was where he went. His heart pounded against his chest with fear. What if something had happened to her? The tether that would have told him that was gone, he couldn't feel her on the other side again so he wouldn't be able to know. Now that this was happening, how would he?When he reached his door, he waited a moment to see if there was anyone inside but it was quiet. He guessed his father was alone and pushed the doors open without even knowing. He wasn't going to be courteous about it anymore.Alpha Caden raised his head from the papers they had been burned in. When his

Chapter 107Author's POV Cassian walked towards his father's office. It was almost unbelievable how well his father had planned all of it. So smoothly, so quickly without even waiting for any other order. He had found his way into the council's heart. They all supported him. He didn't knock on the door when he reached, unable to hold it back. “How could you?" He shouted, slamming the door closed and walking closer to his father. His father didn't flinch or move, in fact his expression was very different. He had a smirk on his face. He knew Cassian was his son but he hadn't gotten all the smartness Lucian had possessed. Did he really think he could meet the council without his knowledge? He controlled all of it. “What did you think? I don't run this place by being complacent and anyway we both know that no major decisions can be carried out without the council's approval" he finished although that wasn't really the truth. The council was really Alpha Caden's story. One he had writ

Chapter 109Author’s POVCassian found Lucian in his room, the part of the palace that he knew his brother would always be. It had been his territory. And he had decided, a choice he didn't want to make. Lucian always gravitated toward silence and calm when his anger grew too heavy to carry. Cassian could already imagine how angry his brother would be. Lucian stood near one of the tall windows, his back to the room, his hands braced against the stone sill. The light fell across his shoulders but never quite reached his face, it was like a darkness shrouded him - Cassian knew his brother was dark. Cassian paused at the entrance, watching him for a moment longer than necessary. There were things he needed to say, things he had delayed for too long.“Why didn't you stop him?” Lucian said without turning around. Even though Cassian had come, he wasn't too elated. His brother was little too much like the enemy but one he would have to side with. Cassian closed the door behind him. The s
