Chapter 1

Lilian Wilder, the she-wolf that Arthur Thorne had been seeing outside, was now carrying his pup. In order to bring her into the pack and let her be his Luna, he wanted to force me to sever our mate bond."Sophia, I'll tell the pack that we'd wanted to break off the bond a year ago, but we only delayed it for the sake of keeping the peace in the pack," Arthur declared."I have to repay Lilian's kindness and make sure she doesn't suffer any grievance. So, you'll admit that you're the one who fell out of love, and that's why I'm breaking my mate bond with you."I watched in a daze as he spoke, a chill spreading through my body. "But that means I'll be cast out of the pack. I won't have a home anymore."In my previous lifetime, I'd heard from the Beta long ago that Arthur often left the pack territory to take care of Lilian. At the time, I'd teased the Beta, saying he'd misunderstood Arthur. After all, he was only trying to repay his debt of gratitude.I didn't expect Arthur to actua

Chapter 2

Some in the pack couldn't accept that Arthur wanted to sever his mate bond with me and tried to stand up for me.However, Arthur scoffed in contempt and declared, "A hypocritical she-wolf like her isn't worthy of your attempts to defend her!"She pretends to suffer in pain every night just to get my attention! I know she's just doing it because she can't stand seeing me take care of Lilian. But Lilian's the one who saved my life. I have to repay her!"In that instant, the chains of love that had once bound me shattered into dust. So, Arthur wasn't incapable of showing love to me. He simply saved all his love for Lilian. Only a deceitful, two-faced she-wolf like Lilian was the perfect match for an arrogant and self-absorbed wolf like him.Since that was the case, I might as well just leave the pack. It'd be far better than losing my life like I did in my previous life. But before leaving, I was going to tell Arthur the truth about how he'd been rescued back then. He'd better n

Chapter 3

"I hope all of you will truly accept Lilian into the pack," Arthur said. "Kindly do not misunderstand her! She is truly a kind and good-hearted soul. We were made for each other!"At the end of his speech, he kissed Lilian deeply. The wolves erupted into cheers and applause as they witnessed this display of tender love. Meanwhile, thanks to Arthur's half-truths and insinuations, I had become the pariah of the pack.Everyone was busy wondering why I had chosen to sever my mate bond with Arthur. Had I truly betrayed him somehow? When I went back to the cave to pack my things, I heard the maids around me whispering in furtive discussion."Has she really been fooling around with another wolf?""She's utterly shameless! I can't believe she doesn't appreciate Alpha Arthur after how well he's treated her! A promiscuous she-wolf like her should get the hell out of our pack!"I was stunned. From the looks of it, Arthur had already bribed all of my maids and told them to spread these rumo

Chapter 4

Arthur stared at the quiet forest, feeling as though something of great importance had quietly slipped away from his heart. As he stood at the cave entrance, he continued to stare into the distance and let a grief-stricken howl escape his lips.Around him, the maids warily eyed him as they whispered among themselves."Is Alpha Arthur heartbroken? But wasn't he the one who wanted to sever the mate bond?"Arthur heard what they were saying behind him, and his eyes filled with sorrow. He'd already severed his mate bond with me, so why was his heart aching so much?He weakly leaned against the wall. Even though he was bathed in the light of the setting sun, he didn't feel any warmth at all. On the contrary, he only felt a deep chill.Arthur dared not even breathe too deeply. My departure seemed to have left him with a searing pain that seeped deep into his bones.Soon, Lilian appeared in a lavish outfit, wearing a tiara made out of moonstone. She crouched down and gently patted A

Chapter 5

Panicked and desperate, Arthur grabbed me before swearing to the Moon Goddess, "You have to trust me, Sophia! I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Please come back with me." His tone softened, and his eyes misted over as he spoke.Arthur had always presented himself as a grave and stoic Alpha in front of me. He'd never shown me his humble and vulnerable side before.Nevertheless, I shook my head and said, "You're the Alpha, Arthur. You shouldn't be lowering yourself to plead like that. I need you to remember something—I'm free now. No one can ever hold me back again!" I met his gaze, my expression serious.Arthur understood my personality, so all of his words died out in his throat. In the past, I'd willingly given up on everything and left my pack just to be with him. In the same way now, I had just as readily dropped everything and left as well.It was true that I'd once loved him, but it was also the truth that I now no longer did. Therefore, it was best if he set me f

Chapter 6

Jeremy didn't even bother being polite. He glared straight at Arthur and snapped, "Stop acting like you and Sophia are close. Sophia's one of us now!" After saying that, he grabbed my hand for good measure.Arthur's eyes reddened at the sight of our intimacy. He wagged his finger at me, his voice trembling with disbelief and desperation as he cried out, "Why did you join someone else's pack, Sophia? Are you still upset with me?"I've changed now. I didn't mark Lilian either. I've been waiting for you to come back!"To prove his words, Arthur stepped aside and gestured at the space behind him to show me that Lilian wasn't there.I calmly watched as he did all that. Then, I finally said, "Arthur, I thought I'd made myself perfectly clear to you when I last spoke to you in the forest. "We've already severed our mate bond, which means we no longer have anything to do with each other."Then, I turned to Jeremy.Arthur threw aside his weapon and rushed up to me. He grabbed my hand an

Chapter 7

Jeremy placed my hand against his chest. I could feel his heart thumping strongly beneath my palm. My face turned red, and my breath hitched. As Jeremy stared at me, he suddenly leaned in and kissed me. It was so gentle that I almost thought I was hallucinating. My heart started pounding as well.Jeremy hugged me tight, his mouth slowly traversing down to my neck before he murmured, "Can I?"Clenching the hem of his clothes, I subconsciously nodded. The moment Jeremy's teeth pressed into my skin, the mark was formed, and we were bonded as mates. That night, we were engulfed in the pleasure of our souls and bodies uniting as one. With gentle touches, Jeremy took exceedingly great care of me. It was only when the sky turned bright that he reluctantly left my side. After he left, I stepped outside and took in the pack. For the first time, I had a genuine smile on my face. There were no instances of the strong preying on the weak in Jeremy's pack. All of the wolves were doing the

Chapter 8

Consumed by the intense pain that was coming from his heart, Arthur exclaimed in disbelief, "But I love you so much, Sophia! How could you…"As I took a step closer to check on him, I snorted and retorted, "Love, you say? Was it love when you chose to kick me out of the pack? When you left me to fend for myself while you shacked up with another she-wolf?"I turned back to Lilian with a dark gaze. The blade I'd given her had been laced with wolfsbane. Arthur wouldn't remain alive for much longer.Lilian's eyes were wild with bloodlust. After seeing the blood coming out of Arthur's chest, she burst out laughing.Pulling out the blade, she looked at me and said, "You're still as dumb and naive as ever, Sophia. It's obvious that once I kill Arthur, I'd kill you, too!"Once you're dead, I'll blame you for Arthur's death. That's the only way I can get the rest of the pack to willingly accept me as the new leader!"With that, she began approaching me. But just as she had backed me int
