Cassandra’s POV Halfway to his table I froze my hand curled around the recorder. Vera? What was she doing here? I also lost at the question like I forgot who she was to him?Vera. The name slid down my spine like cold water. The second I truly saw her, I hadn't seen her earlier, maybe because I wasn't expecting her to be there. Her long dark hair fell over one shoulder with a soft, melodic laugh getting more audible now that I was closer. My face scrunched up. What were they joking about? I didn't know why but my eyes twitched at the way she leaned just a little too close as she showed him something on her phone. Giggling sweetly. How annoying. I drew in a deep breath. I wasn't going to be worked up over a man, but my stomach still twisted with a bitter taste in my mouth. It was not jealousy, just… irritation. I convinced myself. Pure, reasonable irritation that Alaric had the nerve to sit there brooding at me from across the room earlier, those icy stares following my

Alaric’s POV The click behind me made her freeze for a moment before she spoke with hesitation. Annoyance was obvious on the tip of her tongue Her words spilt out of her mouth faster than her head saw me. "You shouldn't be here, Jason.." she snapped before her face turned pale almost immediately. Jason, the name ticked off something in me that shouldn't be touched Sunshine was having too much fun for her to be fucking drinking while being pregnant, introducing a colleague to me and flirting with this Jason person. She froze struggling to find the right words in her defence . "Jason.." I couldn't help but snicker after a short laugh. "You were thinking of being locked with another man, sunshine, or you are just drunk..." Those words tasted more bitter than they should have on my lips She immediately panicked, taking a step back towards the sink. "It is a misunderstanding. You should not be here?" She argued trying to smooth things off I arched a bro

Cassandra’s POVI couldn’t breathe. Alaric’s voice was calm, but that was what terrified me. Jason heard a threat but I heard a promise. My teeth silently gritted. He loved doing this, putting me in difficult situations. Jason didn’t know who he was standing in front of. Didn’t know the kind of power Alaric carried. The kind that could ruin careers with a phone call. He was completely oblivious that the man before him was Alaric Von Duvall. "You don't have to answer him Cassie.." he hissed with disdain. "No one is above the law." Jason said with a strong vindication. He seemed like a very nice person but he was digging his own grave without even knowing it “Jason, stop,” I said quickly, my voice shaking despite my effort to steady it. “It’s not what you think.” I added quietly but that wasn't enough "Not what I think? You don't have to defend him.."His eyes snapped to me, hurt and anger tangled together. “Cass, I saw him pinning you to the wall!” his jaw tightened.

Cassandra’s POVThe moment I crossed past the last garden light, the surroundings changed..The woods swallowed the warmth of the villa behind me as if it had never existed.Darkness stretched between the thick trees, broken only by strips of pale moonlight that slipped through bare branches and fell over the snow like ghostly paths. The wind moved softly, whispering through the limbs above, carrying the dry rustle of winter leaves that hadn’t yet fallen.I had only been here once before. The day I accidentally found the lake, it was bright then and not covered with snow. Tonight, in the dark, it looked completely unrecognisable. My eyes darted around the dark path, and twigs snapped under my feet as I cautiously moved forward. Snow covered the ground in uneven patches, glowing faintly under the night sky, but beneath it, I could hear the crunch of dead leaves and snapping twigs with every step I took. The sound felt too loud in the darkness like the woods were announcing my p

Cassandra’s POV It was cold, the cold winter air and the chilling water surrounded it. This was a bad idea and I might get a nasty fever but my brain was devoid of reason. I told myself not to care much but the thought of him being upset with me for long didn't sit right with me. I was swallowed in the heat, his scorching mouth played with my nipples as his hand crept up my thighs to the last piece of clothes I had on. His fingers played with the lace of my panties making me super aware of their presence there but he didn't go in. He just played with the lace His mouth was drowning me, sucking my breast hard. I thought I might even start lactating at the moment. My head fell back pressed against the boulder as I gasped for air. My gasp mixed with breathless moans.. Alaric’s mouth strayed from breast kissing a way up my cleavage, leaving obvious hickeys. At this point, I was beyond wet. My folds were completely drenched and aching to be touched but were left s
