Cassandra's POV The loud notification sound almost gave me a heart attack. Their laughs died down, "someone's there," Aurelia gasped urging Sinclair to check it out She was acting as if she didn't see me earlier. Footsteps started to approach Before my weak heart gave out, I grabbed my phone and the broken heels and bolted away. I never knew I could run this fast with a broken heel. I tripped again on my unbalanced heel. It felt like all the emotions I tried to bottle up threatened to spill. A lone tear escaped my eyes and I felt my throat tighten. My frail lips parted, but nothing came out, not even a cry.Years of dating and planning to settle down with him but… but… He had promised me so why...“No, " A whisper finally slipped off my lips, and I shook my head. It can't be true. I…I think I heard wrong and….'Stand up, Cassandra,' my thoughts yelled, and with my last strength, I scrambled off the floor and ran, half staggering, towards the door.I should run a

Cassandra's POV My head was a complete mess, and I wasn't thinking straight at this point, like it mattered. His lips were intoxicating, I knew I should not kiss him and didn't know why I couldn't stop. His hold on my waist was firm, and I clung to his shirt, deepening the kiss, nibbling and licking his lower lip until we both moaned into each other's lips. We unravelled each other. A gasp escaped my lips, his hand squeezed my butt, and I didn't even know when his fingers crawled over my skin to get to the edge of my panties. He ignited something forbidden in me. He forced our lips apart, his teeth nibbling under my ear, sending jolts of sparks through my spine. He hovered over my ear, and a soft chuckle rang in my ears. "Be careful with fire or it might burn you." The warning came in through one ear and left through the next. I tiptoed to nibble his lower lip once more before giving him a half-witty smile. "Enough talking, hubby, or don't tell me

CASSANDRA'S POV I was left dumbfounded. My brain was still processing the fact that Alaric had announced me as his wife I could not even process the fact that he was Sinclair's uncle I stared blankly at the man who was supposed to be my ex-uncle and found it hard to believe. He looked just a few years older than Sinclair, I had no idea until today that Sinclair had such a young uncle. Several questions started to race in my mind, if Alaric knew I was engaged to Sinclair. Did he have any secret intention because I found everything fishy? A low voice echoed next to my ears giving goosebumps. Alaric's eyes were locked on Sinclair's grip. "Better play along." He warned me. It felt more like a threat. Alaric's grip on my waist grew tighter. Shivers ran through my spine, it felt like he wanted to rip out his hand. "Your fiancé?" Alaric asked, his unwavering gaze still on Sinclair's arm with a look that could kill. Sinclair gritted his teeth so tight his

CASSANDRA'S POV The realisation that the child could be either man's own didn't make the situation any less complicated than it already was. Oh shit. I fucked up big time. What was I thinking that night? I could not remember anything from the night I supposedly got married to him. Everything was a blur but I vaguely remembered asking Alaric to marry me And I was sure we had sex. The dull ache between my legs and the multiple hickeys were evidence of that claim. I was ovulating that week too. God, I felt like pulling out my head. How did I find myself in this situation? All I wanted was to get rid of my cheating fiancé. Sinclair was agitated by Alaric's claims. His face twisted unimaginably. Something flickered in his eyes, it looked like fear. He probably remembered the mysterious video of me dancing with someone that night That person turned out to be his young uncle, who could be mistaken for his elder brother. "How presumptuou

CASSANDRA'S POV The grip around my waist tightened, guiding me away from the steps. The jacket slipped just enough for the light to filter through again. I was stunned and overwhelmed by everything.Rebecca's panicked voice faded by my side. This cologne, with its amber and cedar scent, was marked in my memory. My heart was hammering, I glanced up catching a glimpse of his defined jaw line and those clear icy pools.Sinclair, my heart skipped a beat. It was really him.For a moment, I forgot how to breathe all over again. His jaw was tight, eyes sharp with fury towards the parasite. I felt my stomach twist. If it were a month ago, this action would have made my heart flutter, but now I didn't know what to feel.He didn’t say anything. Just angled his body around mine, shielding me as if the flashes were bullets. His hand was warm and steady against my lower back. "Move,” he repeated louder this time.Everything was in complete chaos. Sinclair's bodyguards tried to create a path f
