Lyra’s POV“Faster!” Elayne urged us on as we continued to run as fast as we could. Being the one with the map in her hand, she ran ahead of us, even though she was the one who knew the place least. The closer we got to the exit route, the faster my heart throbbed. Freedom at last, I thought. I almost imagined that this day might never come. “You can't keep going this slowly, May,” Elayne blurted out as we edged even closer, now approaching the back of the packhouse which, just as we had predicted, had no guard at all in view. Then suddenly, I stopped, unwilling to move any further. Being so close to the packhouse, I found myself yearning for something else. “Princess?” May and Elayne stopped as soon as they couldn't hear my footsteps anymore, turning back to me with shock on their faces. “What's it? We don't have much time. We need to leave quickly,” Elayne emphasised, but I just stood there, speechless, staring at them with my lips slightly parted. “Lyra, what is going on?”
