《The Wolf Star: A Rejected Mates Story》全部章節：第 11 章 - 第 20 章

[CW- This chapter includes body horror. Please look after yourself while reading.]In the dim light of the forest, she could just make out a reddish wolf. It was more slender than Nieve, with a distinctive black tail. It was standing incredibly still, its deep brown eyes focused on something. Nieve crept forward, his hackles raised. Nieve then looked back at Eli and Peggy. She could feel Eli tensing next to her. Their unease made her heart race, and she didn't understand why.“Another one?” Eli whispered. Nieve nodded."Another what?" Peggy whispered to them."A... Another..." Eli looked at Peggy, afraid. "A big one.""Eli just tell me-"Suddenly, the sound of birds flying away in a panic and small creatures scattering filled the air. The ground seemed to shake somewhat as something moved through the forest.A shot of fear spread up Peggy’s spine as the smell of turpentine drifted out of the trees.EEEEEUUUUUGGHSomething inhuman-sounding cried out from deeper into the trees. Peggy sat down and watched as Mikael dug the hole. Eli walked down the hill and started to help Nieve, using magic to sharpen their fingernails and begin cutting into the bone and cartilage that kept the wolf trapped. It took Mikael almost an hour to dig a large enough hole, and as he worked, she realised she could feel her muscles ache in tandem with the ones he would be using. A cold shiver ran down her back as he sweated. Her mouth went dry just before he took out a flask of water. She drummed her fingers into the dirt as she tried to make sense of this.Either she had very quickly bonded to this group, and she was feeling some weird psychosomatic sensations, or…Mate.“Nope, not ready to confront that,” she sighed, pulling her knees to her chest.Still, that word drifted around her mind. As much as it felt like a foreign sensation, she had seen werewolves mated to humans before. At the same time, it felt uncomfortable, having someone else possibly in her mind like this. She needed

“Has someone been hurt?” Ariadne asked, frowning.“Half the knighthood,” Commander Ruiz sighed. “A local holy site was attacked.”“Oh my,” Ariadne said, her eyes widening.“Indeed,” Commander Ruiz nodded. “We went to investigate, and we found the cause.”He led her inside the garrison, where the knights were being patched up. She noticed them all eyeing her warily as she walked in. She almost kicked a dagger that had been left on the floor. She frowned at it. The knights had evidently been in a rush… There were other discarded weapons, like a bow and a shield. Then Ariadne’s nostrils burned with the smell of blood and…Turpentine.“A rogue?” Ariadne asked. Several men looked up at her, eyes wide. “This far south?”“Aye,” Commander Ruiz sighed. “We don’t know how-”“Your majesty,” a younger lycan knight spoke. Commander Ruiz glared at the knight. “You know of these things?”“Yes,” Ariadne nodded. “I suppose they aren’t something most Lycans are exposed to.”“That’s right,” Commander Ru

Peggy stirred slightly as she awoke. She hadn’t had any strange dreams, which was a relief, as after the rogue attack and with the possibility of having a mate bond with Mikael, she hadn’t slept as well as she would have liked to. Usually, at this point, she would pull up her blanket and cuddle into it, enjoying the warmth before she had to go out into the cold. The further north the group went and the closer toward the werewolf countries of Arcterra they got, the colder the air got. She was used to the more mild days of Albiontё.But today, she was already very warm.Too warm. She blushed hard as she felt a soft breath against her ear. The smell of chewed mint and pine let her know immediately who this was.Mikael.As she came more into reality, she realised that he had his arm wrapped around her middle, his legs pressed against hers.He probably hadn’t gotten into this position on purpose, but still, it made her flustered. His back was pressed against her, and she could feel every l

[CW- This chapter contains mild body horror, feelings of unreality, and vomiting. She swallowed hard and forced herself to keep some modicum of calm.Fear would kill her.Panic would kill her. What wouldn’t kill her?She glanced around the room. She couldn’t actually be sure about the answer to that question.“... Fuck it,” she whispered and opened the mind link to Mikael.“Peggy? What the fuck is happening?” Mikael asked.“Get Eli in the mind link thing,” Peggy replied.“Wha-”“There are runes on the floor,” she replied. “You saw the stuff I saw in my head, that came up because I stepped on some runes on the floor. Eli knows magic stuff, right?”“... Yeah, they do…” Mikael said, and she could feel him starting to realise that she knew things. “Peggy, the mind link-”“I know,” she replied. “We can talk about it later, when I’m not in danger.”“...
