Semua Bab His Regret Began When I Abandoned Him: Bab 21 - Bab 30

Chapter 21Calvin stared at the bedroom door that was half open. Samantha was asleep, her breathing steady, her face no longer as pale as it had been the night before. The glass of medicine on the bedside table was already empty. He stood there for a few seconds, making sure the woman was truly asleep.“I’ll just be gone for a moment,” he murmured softly, not sure to whom.He took his car keys and jacket, then stepped out without making a sound. The door closed quietly behind him.In Camelia’s apartment, the atmosphere was quiet. Camelia had just returned from the kitchen, placing a small bag of groceries on the table. Shela had sent a message a few minutes earlier, informing her that she had taken Aurora and Daven for a walk at the city park and would be back in the afternoon.Camelia let out a relieved breath. “Thank you, Shela,” she murmured. She walked into the living room, about to tidy up the remaining toys, when the apartment bell rang.Camelia stopped. Her brows furrowed.“Who

Chapter 23Camelia rose calmly from her chair. She lightly patted the napkin on her lap, then looked at Juna.“I’m going to the restroom for a moment,” she said softly.Juna nodded. “Don’t take too long. Daven’s food is almost finished.”Camelia gave the children a faint smile. “Mama will be right back.”Aurora nodded. “Okay, Ma.”Camelia walked away toward the restroom hallway. Her steps looked calm, but her mind was in turmoil. The encounter earlier had left her chest feeling uneasy. As soon as the women’s restroom door closed behind her, Camelia let out a long breath. She looked at her reflection in the mirror, briefly fixing her hair.“Calm down,” she murmured to herself. “This is just a coincidence.”A few minutes later, she stepped out of the restroom. But after just one step, her arm was pulled hard.“Ah!” Camelia gasped in shock.Calvin stood in front of her. His face was cold, his eyes dark.“What do you mean?” Calvin asked bluntly, his voice low.Camelia tried to pull her ar

Chapter 25That morning, the air in the hospital courtyard felt cool. Camelia walked slowly while holding Aurora’s hand. On the other side, Juna walked along, occasionally glancing at Daven, who looked paler than usual.“We’re here,” Juna said softly.“Yes,” Camelia replied. “Are you okay, Dav?”Daven gave a small nod. “I’m fine, just dizzy, Mama.”Aurora looked at her brother. “We’ll see the doctor later, okay? Uncle Juna said the doctor is kind.”Daven smiled faintly. “Okay.”They entered the main building. The smell of antiseptic immediately greeted them. Camelia took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She had prepared many questions. She hoped there would be good news today. At the registration desk, the nurse checked their data.“For Doctor Sam?” the nurse asked.“Yes,” Juna answered. “We have an appointment.”The nurse typed for a moment, then looked up. “I’m sorry, Doctor Sam is on duty in China. He will only return the day after tomorrow.”Camelia fell silent. “The day aft

Chapter 27That afternoon, Camelia put on a thin jacket before leaving the apartment. She left Aurora with the next-door neighbor who was used to helping her, while Daven was still asleep since noon. Her shopping list was on her phone, simple things only. She did not want to linger.“Just for a moment,” she murmured as she locked the door. The supermarket was not too crowded. Camelia pushed a small trolley, picking up milk, bread, fruit, and a few other necessities. She tried to focus, pushing aside thoughts about the hospital, about the day after tomorrow, about everything that had been weighing on her chest since yesterday. As she was about to turn into the next aisle, her steps came to a halt.Who else but Calvin. The man stood not far from her, briefly speaking with the express cashier. His face was as cold as ever. Camelia instinctively turned around, intending to leave before being noticed. But before she could get far, her wrist was grabbed tightly.“Let go!” Camelia whispered

Chapter 29The car stopped in the yard of the large house. Camelia stared at the building, which felt unfamiliar, yet not entirely so. Six years was not a short time. Still, the memories tied to this place remained too vivid.“We’ve arrived,” Mrs. Vera said softly.Camelia nodded. Her hands trembled slightly as she opened the door. The moment her feet touched the ground, her breathing felt heavy.“Do you still remember the way in?” Mrs. Vera asked.“I do,” Camelia answered honestly. They entered the house. The familiar scent of the living room had not changed. Camelia swallowed.“Sit,” Mrs. Vera said, gesturing toward the sofa. “I’ll have some tea brought.”A servant nodded and left at once.Mrs. Vera sat across from Camelia. Her gaze was sharp, but not judgmental. It was more filled with curiosity.“Now tell me everything,” Mrs. Vera said. “I want to hear it directly from you.”Camelia took a deep breath. “What would you like to know, Ma’am?”“Your children,” Mrs. Vera answered witho
