SONYA'S POVI'm in a different room when the alarms start blaring. It's not a cell, exactly. More like a ritual chamber. The walls are carved stone, covered from top to bottom in symbols that glow faintly purple. The air smells like ozone and old blood, and the floor is marked with a complex circle of interlocking runes that throb in time with my heartbeat. The chains on my wrists have gotten tighter since they moved me here unexpectedly. Less like restraints and more like something feeding off me, drawing power from the curse fragments I'm carrying.Melvanie said we'd begin real training tomorrow. It's not even a new day yet.Something's wrong.I don't like this at all.Melvanie sweeps in looking annoyed rather than alarmed, which is somehow worse than if she were scared."Your mate is here," she says, moving to a shelf lined with vials and artifacts. "Right on schedule."My heart lurches as hope flares in my chest. "Reign? He found me?""With his father's help, yes." She begins sele

SONYA'S POVMelvanie screams in fury. "You have no idea what you've just done! The ritual was the only thing keeping the seal stable! Without it…”"The seal is fine," Moira interrupts, pulling the blade free from the floor. "I stabilized it myself before I came here. Did you really think I'd break a thousand-year-old lock without making sure the door stayed shut?" She turns to face Melvanie fully. "It's over, Melvanie. Your collection is broken, your contracts are void, and you have nowhere left to run."Melvanie looks at us. At Reign, standing with his hand in mine. At Moira with the blade. At the shattered remnants of her ritual circle. And then something in her face fractures. The cold control, the centuries of careful masking, all of it cracks apart. What's underneath isn't fear. It's fury. The pure, irrational rage of someone who has never once in her very long life accepted losing."You think breaking one contract ends this?" Her voice drops to something quiet and dangerous. "I'

SONYA'S POVI slowly open my eyes and immediately realize I'm alone in bed, which is honestly disappointing. After everything we've been through, kidnapping, contracts, almost dying multiple times, I was hoping to wake up to Reign's stupidly attractive face. Instead, I get empty sheets and a note on the pillow.*Had to deal with pack business. Don't leave the room without guards. Back soon. - R*"Romantic," I mutter, but I'm smiling. The door opens, and I half-expect Reign, but it's Phoebe carrying a tray of food that smells like heaven."Breakfast delivery!" She sets the tray on the bed. "Mrs. Wren made all your favorites. Turns out, surviving supernatural kidnapping earns you special treatment.""I'll take it." I grab a croissant, suddenly starving. "Where's Reign?""Dealing with Derek. Word is, your ex-stepbrother-who-was-never-really-your-stepbrother is demanding some kind of trial." She sits cross-legged at the foot of the bed. "Also, your mom wants to see you. She's been hoverin

SONYA'S POVHell no."I don't want to wait," I whisper. His eyes go dark, hungry. "Thank fuck."He kisses me, and it's different from before. Deeper. More certain. Like he's pouring everything he's been holding back into this one kiss, all the fear, the relief, the ravenous love that's been building between us since that night in his father's garden when he caught me hiding in the bushes like a complete psycho.I kiss him back just as hard, my hands tangling in his hair."Sonya," he breathes against my lips. "If we do this, there's no going back. You'll be mine forever. Can you handle that?""Can you handle being stuck with me forever?" I tease."Baby, I'm already stuck with you. Have been since the moment you signed my contract." He nips at my lower lip. "This just makes it official.""Then let's make it official."He doesn't need to be told twice. His fingers hook into the hem of my shirt, his shirt actually, one I have no intention of returning, and pull it over my head. He tosses

SONYA'S POV"You can." His fingers press harder, his cock driving deeper. "Give it to me."He's right. I can. It builds faster this time, coiling hot and tight, and when it breaks it's harder than the first, my whole body shaking, a sound coming out of me that doesn't even sound like my own voice. He follows me into it with a rough, guttural groan, his hips slamming into mine as he comes, his fingers digging into my skin, his chest pressed so hard against my back I can feel his heartbeat. We collapse sideways onto the mattress, both of us breathing hard. For a long moment, neither of us speaks. His arm is around my waist, his lips pressed to the back of my neck, his cock still inside me, softening."Still alive?" he says eventually."Barely." I manage to roll over to face him. "You said you had a list."His eyes darken again. "I did.""How long is it?""Very." He pulls me closer, his hand tracing down my spine. "We've barely started."He rolls onto his back, pulling me with him so I'm
