Chapter 20 - Dinner Date JudeI knew Rosie was probably buried in textbooks with my mom right now, but I couldn't just sit around and wait anymore. I needed to hasten the process. I couldn't just pass the time hoping she’d eventually catch up to my feelings. What if she were a slow burner? What if it took her months, or years? God forbid negative thoughts. I had to take initiative. Falling in love was as hard as it was easy.Besides, I knew my mom was by my side—always by my side. I knew she remembered Rosie after the day she and Father came to greet us in the penthouse. The mystery girl I'd been totally obsessed with for years. And that was why she liked Rosie immediately, even going as far as to personally tutor her for the GED.Then again, who wouldn't like Rosie? She was the epitome of everything a human being should be. Beautiful, kind, funny, and understanding, and I couldn't list everything unless you have the time to listen to me.Sitting on the bench at the training arena, I

"Oh, that?" Josh touched his chest mockingly, a fake expression of remorse crossing his features. "I'm sorry about that, flower, but I just couldn't bear not knowing what you were doing. I've been eyeing you for so long, after all." he leered, his gaze zeroed on my chest while resisting the urge to cover my already covered chest. As a wave of disgusted nausea hit me, and I wanted to gag the horrible churn in my stomach. "Please just leave me alone. My husband won't like me being surrounded by a group of men."Josh let out a loud, mocking scoff at the mention of the word. "Your husband? How much did that guy even pay you? I can easily match it. Just spread those legs for me once, Rosie, and I will forfeit everything your family owes."Before the disgusting sentence could even leave his mouth, my hand flew out and a ringing slap collided with his cheek.Josh stumbled back slightly, rubbing his reddening cheek before a twisted grin broke across his face. A glint flashed in his eyes. "Wo

Chapter 23— Letting It Out The private moment took place in the penthouse. It was beautifully lit and designed and all glittering, thanks to Jude and Kira's efforts as we celebrated Mia's seventh birthday. Mia looked like a princess in a stunning blue ball gown, her brown hair clipped up elegantly with a small silver crown resting on her head while she waved her matching electronic wand around.I felt an overwhelming wave of emotion washing over me just watching her run around the living room, her face bright with happiness and laughter as she went around showing off her dress. Jude, Elena, Kira, and even Kira's boyfriend, River, were all gathered around the decorated table, singing the birthday song for her.Surprisingly, Marcus had tagged along with Elena today, being his grumpy self, sitting quietly on the far couch while observing the celebration. After Mia closed her eyes, made a wish, and cut the cake that Elena and I had spent hours baking and designing, I sliced a piece and w

Chapter 24 - OBSESSION IJudeI looked down at the woman who called herself Rosie’s sister, my blood boiling as I gently placed Mia down into River’s arms before immediately turning on my heel to run after Rosie. In all the time I had known her, in all the years I had spent watching her from the shadows, I had never once seen her look like that. She was a woman who never cried, a woman who always held her head high no matter how hard life hit her, but seeing her look so broken inside pulled at my heart immensely. It shattered something deep inside me, and the raw pain on her face made me vow that I would never allow that expression or those tears to touch her face ever again. Before I darted down the hallway, I quickly ruffled Mia’s hair and pressed a kiss against her cheek, whispering a quiet, "I'm coming right back, princess," as I caught my mother’s eye. I exchanged a look with both my mum and Kira, silently signaling them to throw that vile woman out of the penthouse immediately.

Chapter 25 - Mysterious BoyRosie's POV I woke up to an empty bed, blinking my eyes rapidly against the morning light until they fully opened. I reached up to touch the side of my head, feeling it throb with a pounding headache while the rims of my eyes still stung. I spotted a fresh glass of water sitting on the nightstand. I reached over and picked it up, gulping the liquid down greedily to refresh my rough, parched throat. The moment the water hit my stomach, the chaos of the previous evening came rushing back into my mind, causing me to gasp out loud as my eyes widened in the quiet room. Sophia’s return was instantly pushed to the back of my mind as I remembered the insane words Jude had confessed to me right before I fell asleep. I blinked at the ceiling, wondering if I was mistaken or if my exhausted memory was just conjuring up a wild dream. I could distinctly remember hearing a low voice cutting through my first arc of sleep, and I remembered Jude dropping to his knees conf
