“That’s... that’s good if he doesn’t care,” she murmured, plastering a firm, indifferent expression over her face. “But I still can't take the risk. I will stick to my plan, and I am going to leave anyway,” she declared.Samuele looked at her intensely before making his decision. “Then I am also coming with you.”“Are you insane?” Rosa’s eyes widened. “You have a life here—and your patients? What will happen to them? They need you.”“And I need you, Rosa,” he murmured, his voice a raw mix of pain and desperation. She looked at him helplessly. But in the next moment, he held her hands in his, trying to clear away all her worry and confusion. “I will go wherever you go. It doesn’t matter. I can treat my patients—and more people—wherever we end up. But I can’t live without you.”Rosa was speechless. She simply couldn't understand what to say now that her own plan had failed at the final step.“And don’t worry,” he assured her again. “I will manage everything. You just have to relax and en

Rosa sat in the airport with Renzo, watching him eat his waffle with Nutella. She smiled at the contentment on the little boy’s face. Then, she touched her flat stomach, feeling the new life growing inside her. A surge of joy and accomplishment rushed through her. There was a time when she was all alone. First, her parents died, and her uncle’s family treated her poorly, throwing her out onto the streets. Then, her grandfather took her into his home, but he also left her alone in this world. She had even been married and had a husband and a family, but no one cared for her. Only Luciano’s grandparents were compassionate toward her, but after Luciano declared his intent to divorce her, even they never turned to look at her again. Then she had her light: her son, Renzo. Since then, she was never alone. Now, another of her own flesh and blood would come into this world, and the three of them would be a family—they would need no one else. But then she remembered Samuele and his proposal. O

Luciano froze at her cry, spinning around to face them.“Renzo?!” His voice cracked, fear flashing across his face as he saw the boy’s eyes closed and his body limp in Rosa's embrace. The boy was still breathing, but he was unresponsive. He tried to shove his way closer to take him from Rosa, but she clutched her son tightly in her arms, shielding him with her own body.“Don’t touch my son!” Rosa bawled, her voice raw. “If anything happens to him, I will fucking kill you, Luciano Mancini. Remember that!”Luciano’s eyes flashed with a momentary rage at her words, but he refused to fight her now. He turned to his men and roared, “Get the car! Inform the hospital—now!”When Samuele and Lucy heard Rosa’s panicked voice, they tried to move toward her, but Reid blocked Samuele while Luca stopped Lucy. Lucy glared at Luca, her eyes burning with fury, but Luca simply looked away. He gestured for one of his men to take over his post; his boss’s life was in total chaos, and he would have to deal

Luciano headed straight to the hospital bar to grab two coffees and a couple of panini. He thrust them toward Luca. “Take these to Lucy. Tell her to make sure Rosie eats.”Luca took the food tray with a nod, though a knot formed in his chest. Lucy had been frowning at him whenever he came into her line of sight today. Her anger was evident and directed right at him. He wanted to talk to her, but with Renzo still in the Pediatric ICU and everyone frayed with worry, it didn't feel like the right time for a personal fight. However, a command from the Don was a matter of duty. Luca walked over to where Lucy sat with Rosa. He stood back, waiting until Lucy finally looked up. He gestured for her to come and take the food, but she only deepened her frown. It was only when he pointed toward Rosa, signaling that the food was for the grieving mother, that she finally moved.Lucy stood up and walked over. As he handed her the tray, he kept his voice low. “This is for you and Madam.”Lucy stared a

Rosa stepped between the two men, her breath coming in shallow gasps as she fought to keep the Don away from the doctor. "Stop it, Luciano! You can't shed blood here!" She shoved against his chest with everything she had. Luciano finally took a step back—not because she had the strength to move him, but because he chose to let her."Don't hurt—"She couldn't even finish the plea. The Don’s arms shot out like a trap, circling her tiny waist—the cold steel of the gun still clutched in his fingers—as he yanked her flush against his hard frame. Before she could gasp, his mouth slammed onto hers in a possessive, punishing kiss.Rosa’s eyes went wide with shock as Samuele cursed loudly behind them. But Luciano didn't care about the noise or the audience. This was exactly what he wanted. He needed to mark his territory; he needed to let everyone know that his Rosie belonged to him and him alone. He kissed her right in front of her so-called fiancé, daring the man to realize he had been chasi
