POV: KovaI barely hold her down."What's happening?" Valerian demands with panic in his voice for the first time in the two hundred years I've known him."I don't..." I start to say. Then Aria's eyes snap open. But they're WRONG.Glowing pure silver, bright enough to light the darkened room. She gasps, a horrible choking sound."Burning," she chokes out. "I'm burning."The birthmark on her shoulder flares with light, visible through her nightgown.Silver light pulses from her in waves that make something deep in my chest sing in recognition, ancient power calling to ancient power.Massive power and barely contained.Valerian stumbles back and his own eyes flash crimson in response, his beast recognizing something ancient and powerful. I see it on his face, recognition and fear warring for dominance."Goddess help us," he whispers. "She's waking.""Waking?" I ask, though part of me already knows. "What's waking?"His eyes don't leave Aria as she writhes and glows and transforms."The

POV: AriaI can't sleep.Every time I close my eyes, I see silver light exploding from my hands, feel the power coursing through my veins, and hear Valerian's body hitting the wall.I could have killed him.I throw off the blankets and pace the chambers. Moonlight streams through the balcony doors.I need air.I open the doors quietly and step onto the balcony, then freeze. He's already there.Valerian stands at the railing with his back to me, shirtless despite the cold. Moonlight paints his bronze skin silver and illuminates every scar. His hair is loose around his shoulders and his hands grip the stone railing so hard I hear it crack.I should go back inside. But something stops me, the way his shoulders are rigid, the way his breathing is harsh and controlled, the way he looks so alone."Can't sleep either?" I ask softly. He doesn't turn. "The beast is restless tonight. You should go back inside."Instead, I move to the railing and sit on the stone ledge a few feet from him. "I'm

POV: AriaHe positions himself between my thighs with the head of his cock pressing against my entrance, rubbing through my wetness."The claiming bite has to happen during the peak," he says with his voice rough. "When you're right at the edge, when I'm buried deep inside you and you're coming on my cock. That's when the bond will form strongest.""I understand. Now please, I need your cock inside me."He starts to push inside, slowly, so slowly, stretching me.There's pressure and burning as my pussy stretches around his thick cock, trying to accommodate his size."Breathe," he murmurs while watching my face with those golden eyes burning into mine. "Just breathe through it. You're doing so well, taking my cock so perfectly. Your pussy feels incredible, so tight and wet."I do and slowly, inch by inch, his cock slides deeper, stretching me more than I've ever been stretched. The fullness is overwhelming and the burn borders on too much, but the way he watches me, the care in his eye

POV: AriaThree days had passed since the claiming, since the shocking discovery of the silver mark that had sent Valerian into obsessive research mode. Three days of healers examining me, of ancient texts being consulted, of Valerian barely sleeping as he searched for answers. And apparently, three days was long enough for him to decide I needed a permanent shadow."This is Gamma Thorne. He'll be your shadow from now on."I stare at Valerian, then at the man standing beside him.Thorne is tall, maybe six foot five, with dark brown hair pulled back in a warrior's braid. Scars cross his face in patterns that speak of survived battles and his eyes are hazel, softening the hard lines of his scarred face."I don't need a babysitter," I say."You do." Valerian's tone brooks no argument. "Someone poisoned you five days ago. Until we find who's working with Bane, you don't go anywhere without protection.""I can protect myself. You're teaching me to control my power...""Which you're still l

POV: Valerian"So yes." I kiss lower, between her breasts and down her stomach. "Again and again until you can't remember your own name, let alone anyone else's.""Valerian..." Her protest dies as I settle between her thighs."This time," I murmur against her skin, "I'm going to take my time."And I do.I worship every inch of her, learning what makes her gasp and what makes her moan and what makes her beg.My tongue traces patterns on her inner thigh while she squirms, her hands fisting in my hair."Please," she whimpers."Please what?" I look up at her. "Tell me what you need.""Your mouth. Your tongue. Please."I give her what she wants and taste her, already swollen and sensitive from before, and she cries out.By the time I finally slide up her body and enter her again, she's already trembling. This time is slower and gentler. I let her set the pace and let her ride me while I watch her take her pleasure. She's beautiful like this with her head thrown back, hands on my chest for
