《The Beast's Ugly Wife》全部章節：第 1 章 - 第 10 章

For a moment, I just stayed there, wondering if at some point I would wake up again, falling out of bed in my basement room. But no matter how many times I blinked, the man remained motionless on the ground. And the snow around him remained stained red.“Uh…” I let my voice wander through the silent forest “Hello?”I waited. And waited. Until I realized I was standing there like an idiot, while a member of the pack was possibly bleeding to death right in front of me.“Oh, Holy Moon…” I gasped, hurrying to him “Can you hear me? Can you move? Hello?” I placed both my hands on his shoulder to try and shake him, but I couldn’t move him even a little “Uh… Is anyone there?” I called out, looking around nervously “Is anyone looking for a friend? He’s not well, you should go get him…”I chewed my lip while waiting for someone to come, but again, nothing happened. It had to happen eventually, however. Not only because the hearing of the other wolves in the pack was nothing like mine—they coul

It was difficult for me to define how I was feeling as I drove home. I guess I was… Happy to have made a new friend? Although I didn't think Big Bud would be happy to hear me refer to him that way. But, well, it wasn't like we were enemies, was it? I didn't want us to be, at least. And he had given me enough firewood for a whole week as a gift. It was a step up on the ladder of friendship, right? Well, the next step would be for me to ask his name when we see each other again. I think so, at least. I've only had two friends my whole life, and one of them was my brother, so I don't know if that counts. Of course, Big Bud didn't seem exactly willing to listen to me, but... It would be nice to have someone I could talk to once in a while. He wouldn't even need to really listen to me if he didn't want to. I always accumulated too many words in my mind, and simply letting them out would feel good, even if it didn't matter to anyone else. “Holly!” my mother’s roar interrupted my tho

The Moon Goddess didn't manage to screw up my life completely, apparently. So, he got me a mate. Her smell permeated every corner of that small cabin. My damned eyes seemed to be covered by a fog now, but I could still make out the shapes of what was inside. There wasn't much. A chair, a table, an old fireplace whose bricks creaked as if they were about to collapse at any moment. Why was her scent there, as if that were a place where she spent a lot of time? It was winter. Didn't her parents know that a helpless little thing like her was out there, freezing in that crappy cabin and trying to chop wood? Or was she an orphan? My mother always found families willing to take in lone cubs. There was no explanation for the little thing seeming to live there…Fuck. I clenched my teeth, slamming my fist against the table. What did I care if that woman lived alone in the middle of the forest? I wouldn't take her as mate. Not a chance. She said no one sent her into the middle of the forest to

She's here. The little thing. There's a jumble of smells around me, but it seems I can only smell hers, filling my lungs and driving my wolf crazy. But more than that, I can smell the fear. Not just hers, but everyone's here. One of my men had heard the rumor that only the Moonjoys had been greedy enough to offer their daughters in marriage in exchange for the promises my mother had made. What means…“Don’t be rude, Noah,” my mother murmurs eagerly, and anyone could feel how anxious she is for this wedding to go well “Come closer and meet your bride. She’s such a lovely girl.” I hear her footsteps approaching before she puts her arm in mine, trying to pull me toward the strangers whose scents I don’t recognize “Her name is Holly Moonjoy.”There's a poorly disguised discomfort in her voice when she says that, and I immediately understand why. I never knew much about the Moonjoys, other than the fact that their youngest son was in my battalion when we were ambushed. He was loyal, but too

I brought the runaway girl to my house because I know she won't have a chance to try to escape here.Did I need to put her in my room and on my bed for that? Probably not. But here we were. She didn't stop crying and trembling the whole way, not even when I gently tucked her into my bed. Well, I'm not a gentle man, so for a moment I wondered if she was reacting like that and cowering in the sheets because I had hurt her somehow…Well, I threw her over my shoulder and brought her here without letting her say a word about it, but… It wasn't as if that could cause a bruise or draw blood, right? That's when I remember. When I first smelled her, there was blood mixed with her natural scent. Now, it's so subtle that I barely thought about it during the frenzy of catching her trying to escape, but I can still feel the faint hint of copper. I sniff the air for a moment before searching for her ankle on the bed and grabbing it.“No!&rdqu
