Lahat ng Kabanata ng The Beast's Ugly Wife: Kabanata 11 - Kabanata 20

I was in trouble.Big, big trouble.First, because the option of Prince Noah simply calling off the wedding no longer existed, apparently. Second, a few moments earlier, I had seen one of his men, the one called Atticus, leave in the direction of Alpha's house, probably to let her know that the wedding preparations could begin. And third, worst of all, Noah genuinely seemed to believe that something good or useful could come out of my nightmares. That was why I was there now, walking through that enormous cabin. Under normal circumstances, I would have stayed in bed crying in the fetal position until I fell asleep, but I guess I didn't have time for that. I needed to find Noah and, at least try, to change his mind.It wasn't the first time someone had thought they could use my dreams to prevent a tragedy. Louis, my parents, and even myself had tried it before. But it was no use. Knowing something bad was going to happen was pointless when you didn'

Anyone would call me crazy for still thinking about running away, but… The wedding was the next day and, as I gazed at the moon through the window, anxiety grew in my chest, threatening to leave me breathless.I prayed to the Goddess my whole life to find me a place within the pack. We were a community, and from the weakest wolves who worked making bread to the strongest warriors who protected our borders, everyone was admired for their role. Their usefulness. Under other circumstances, I would certainly have been excited about the possibility of being part of the wolves that were in charge of Prince Noah, but…How could I have any hope of being accepted among them when I knew we were on a countdown to disaster?Even if he didn't kill me, I didn't want to

“What the…” I heard Noah murmur between my sobs, and for the first time, he didn’t seem impatient, cold, or angry. He seemed almost… Disoriented.“Hey…” I felt his hand on my back, as if he were afraid I’d fall back onto the bed “I don’t know what happened in that dream to make you feel this way, but…”His words were cut off when I sobbed loudly, a sound that sounded more like a wail. I think even I would have believed I was being stabbed or something if I'd heard that under different circumstances.“Listen… Just… Calm down.” Noah said, his tone very similar to the orders he used to give. But honestly, I don't know if I

For wolves, a wedding was more than a ceremony. It was an event for the entire pack. And, more than that, a way to celebrate and thank the Goddess for what many considered her greatest blessing: the mating bond. Proof that our souls were touched by the Goddess and that, one day, the couples would rest together in the moonlight, as one.It was a shame that my wedding wouldn't be anything like that.As Gerald led me all the way from Noah’s cabin to the pack’s central square, I could hear all the excitement of the people. The children’s shouts, the adults’ conversations, the sound of the last preparations being made. And, especially, I could hear the whispers. Only superficially, of course. A complete wolf like Gerald was probably hearing every word, but all I could hear were scattered words and, mostly, my name.

I was still lost in those strange sensations when Noah's kiss, as suddenly as it had begun, ended. My breathing was uneven, and my whole face was hot. And when I looked at Noah, I noticed he wasn't much different from me. The only difference was that his eyes had changed: now they were silvery, burning, as if not only he, but also his wolf were staring at me at that moment. His next words, however, were like a bucket of cold water on that warm and trembling feeling that his kiss had left in me.“This ceremony is over,” he growled, his tone hoarse “I’m leaving.”“What?” Alpha Kaia blinked, looking as surprised as I was “Noah, you can’t be serious! Regardless of the circumstances, a wedding is a major event in a young g
