All Chapters of Her Return, His Regret : Chapter 81 - Chapter 90

***~~Dahlia~~***Soren looks like he's about to shatter. His eyes hasn't left me.I face him with a defiant look of my own but my stomach turns. This was what I wanted — to break him, to watch him face critics. To make him feel half of what I felt. But why do I feel this strange tightness in my chest. A lump forms in my throat, I swallow it.I can feel Pa Alfred's gaze on me but I don't turn.I take a sharp breath. I won't cower. I'll make Soren pay for the pain he caused me and I won't feel bad about it.As soon as all the documents are signed, I got up and head for the door.“Dahlia…?” Someone follows me quickly behind me but my steps doesn't falter.I know it's him.I've got nothing to say to him. I haven't even done half of what I intend to do and he's already shaken? The corridor stretched ahead, polished floors, glass walls— too bright, too open. I focused on that. On walking. On keeping the rhythm of my heels steady.I quickened my step, trying to get into my office and lock h

***~~Delilah~~***I want to sleep but I can't.I've been tossing and turning all night.Soren knows. He's bound to find out but I didn't think it'll affect me this much.Maybe it doesn't.It's just — the shock of hearing him say all that.He sounded hurt….like I've done half of what he did. What bothers me more is Liam's paternity. I don't know how he did it, but he's got his evidence on paper.I tore it but I'm more than certain he has more stashed up somewhere. He could run a million test, it changes nothing.I tell myself this but why can't I sleep? Why does his hurt face haunts me.It shouldn't.Tossing the sheets aside, I get myself out of bed, and head downstairs. My mother's room is just opposite from mine. I don't check in.I go to Liam's instead. He's fast asleep hugging his new teddy, the one Soren got him and with Ziggy by his side.I close the door back and head downstairs for a bottle of water, anything to get my mind off things.“Mom?” I call lifting my brows. “You're

***~~Cameron~~***“Going after your brother's wife won't help your case Cameron,” my best friend Jayden tells me.I shoot him a look. “Ex-wife,” I hiss. “She's not bound to him anymore,”He laughs but it lacks humor. “That’s where you're mistaken, man. They're still married,”“Well, just on papers. Right now, Delilah hates him and I think that's my chance,” I say, trying to convince myself of my words. He studies me. “Do you like Delilah or you just want what Soren has?”I've liked— loved Delilah from the very moment I saw her.I met her first. I know she probably doesn't remember but I do.At that grocery store that mom owns. I had gone for supervision in her stead when I saw her.A beautiful, tall and a literal face card. She had thrifted clothes on but that didn't hide her beauty and sculpted body. She caught my attention at first sight, when I asked the manager, he said she had been working here for over two years.I said hello but she regarded me with a nod, barely even looking

***~~Delilah~~***The doorbell rings and I sighed, heading to the door, ready to cuss Cameron out.I was done playing nice with him.But when I opened the door, I stilled. It's not Cameron. It's Soren.Wait.How did he find where lived? The hospital too.Who am l kidding?Cameron suss that out.For Soren, it's an easy peasy. But I hate that he's here.My jaw locks, and I reach to slam the door shut. I don't want to see him.Talking to him stresses me out. It's like both brothers are out to ruin my day.“Delilah, don't please—,” Soren's plea echoes just as I swing the door shut. But instead of hearing the door latch, I hear a sharp groan of pain.Glancing down in alarm, I see Soren's hand wedged between the door and the frame, stopping it from closing completely.Soren quickly withdraws his hand, clutching it close to his chest. I notice his knuckles are swollen and discolored, a clear sign that it had hit him hard.My breath caught and I pull the door open, stepping out to look at So

***~~Soren~~***I never liked Delilah’s mom, not only because she was an addict and took advantage of Lilah's kind heart. She can't be trusted. And she genuinely doesn't care about Lilah.I've witnessed this firsthand. At her funeral, she was absent, she took the money and disappeared. Now, she's back into Delilah's life like nothing happened.I don't know the game she's playing, but I could've sworn I saw her sending out a text.Did she inform Logan that I was here? Was she extorting him too?My hands clench as her questions hangs over us.I can tell it was intentional. Either to stir trouble or to get a reaction out of me.Whatever it is, I want Logan away from Lilah. He's been doing everything he can to push my buttons, to ragebait me. His words, actions — it was just to get at me.And that cocky smile he usually wears pisses me off more than anything. The room is silent now, you could hear a pin drop. Are they a thing now?I wait with bated breath, blood boiling beneath the surf
