Chapter 1

I’m a werewolf, eight months pregnant with my vampire mate's hybrid child. When the contractions hit, my vampire mate, Justin, locked me in an ice coffin carved with runes meant to suppress childbirth.I screamed. I begged him. He just said, "Wait."But this was all for his childhood sweetheart. Isolde. The pureblood vampire had used dark blood magic to carry his pure-blood heir without having sex.An ancient prophecy haunted the clan. The first vampire child born in a millennium would receive the Progenitor's ultimate blessing. It would purify the bloodline. It would break a curse generations in the making."That honor belongs to Isolde's child," Justin said, his voice pure ice."You already have my love, Gracie. This coffin just ensures you give birth after her."The pain of the contractions tore through me. I begged him to take me to the Bloodspring Sanctuary. He leaned in, his cold fingers gripping my chin. His lips were so close to mine, his whisper a threat. "Stop the act. I sho

Chapter 2

"This is your fault! How dare you fight my power!"Morwen’s voice echoed in my head, full of offended rage. The next second, a pain so deep it felt like it was tearing my soul apart shot through me.I let out a shriek and my body arched violently before slamming back onto the ground.Morwen's mind magic was recklessly draining the life from both me and my child.I curled into a ball, a hand clamped over my stomach. I could feel the strong kicks inside me grow faint, then fainter still."No... please, no..." I begged, but it was useless.Warm blood trickled from the corners of my mouth, my nose, my eyes.My vision blurred. The world was spinning. All I could hear was Morwen's cold cursing and the faint, fading beat of my own heart. My consciousness started to slip away. I felt Death's cold fingers on my cheek, beckoning me closer.Just when I thought it was over, Morwen seemed to realize something was wrong.Seeing me bleeding from my eyes and nose, my breathing shallow, her face went p

Chapter 3

The clan’s alchemist saw the state I was in and knew he had to get me to a true place of healing. He sent a frantic message to Justin through their blood bond."Lord Justin, this is an emergency! Please, come to the Sanctuary! Gracie's condition is critical, she's suffering from a severe psychic backlash!"Justin's voice was full of irritation. "Gracie! You're more resourceful than I thought. You actually escaped and found someone to help you.""I don't care what trick you're pulling. I'm not coming. I know your body better than you do, Gracie. You're not in any real danger.""I told you, it's my child, too! Your turn is after Isolde. What's the rush?!"The alchemist looked at me with deep sympathy, then turned to an apprentice. "Get her to the outer sanctuary. We have to try."I never imagined they would take me to the same sanctuary as Isolde. The alchemist pleaded with the guards there, but Justin's orders had been given. Not a single drop of healing spring water was to be spared fo

Justin's POVA silver stake. That’s what it felt like. Right through the heart.I staggered back a step, but pride—the ancient pride of a Vampire Lord—surged through me. I held my ground."Impossible! She was fine when I left. She can't be dead!" I roared."This has to be another one of her tricks. She's just trying to get my attention. I told you not to fall for her games."My second-in-command flinched, his voice trembling under my fury."My Lord, her body is outside. We checked the mating mark... it's gone. Faded completely. It's really Lady Gracie."A raw, guttural roar rose in my chest.Red-hot panic blinded me.I snatched the keys from his hand and was a crimson blur, blasting through the door."To the secret chamber! Now!"My second didn't dare hesitate. He was right on my heels.I moved at impossible speed, reaching the chamber in under a minute.A crowd of blood thralls and clan members were gathered there.I shoved them aside, my breath coming in ragged gasps. My Lord's aura

Chapter 5

Gracie's POVI was finally home. My real home. My father's territory. No more begging for my life from a cold-hearted vampire like Justin. Before my consciousness faded completely, a mother's instinct—a she-wolf's drive to protect her pup—kept me clawing my way back. After fighting so hard to escape that frozen coffin, I couldn't give up now.Justin had severed our bond, but I had one last move.Fighting through a haze of pain, I activated a communication crystal.Enduring the searing agony of the wolfsbane poisoning, I clutched my stomach and sent the signal I knew by heart."Dad," I choked out, "I should have listened to you. Please... save me."He only asked for my location. He didn't need the details. The ancient bond of our Alpha bloodline carried my terror across the miles. The moment I heard his voice, I broke down completely.A flood of regret, relief, and grief washed over me.Within fifteen minutes, a squad of Moonshadow Guards appeared beside me, moving like ghosts through t

Chapter 6

Justin's POVA month later, a sliver of wrongness finally cut through my numb grief.I watched over Gracie's "body." It was still cold, but perfect. Not a single sign of decay.Just as I was about to summon the clan's most ancient illusion master to examine it, a commotion erupted from the direction of the Sanctum. When I got there, I found the halo of light around Isolde's child had become blindingly bright.Clan members were writhing on the ground, crying out that their blood curse was worsening. The symptoms, which once struck monthly, were now a daily torture."This is wrong," an elder reported to me, panicked. "A newborn's blessing should soothe our pain, not amplify it."I looked closely at the infant. It did glow, but the light made me sick. It felt like it was covering up something rotten.Just as I was filled with doubt, the baby let out a piercing shriek. The sound tore through my eardrums and made my blood boil.Worse, every vampire in the Sanctum collapsed at the same time.

Chapter 7

Gracie's POVI knew he would come.Ever since my father spread the rumor that the Moonlit Holy Mountain held a Bloodspring of Life capable of purifying any curse, I knew that dying clan would come sniffing like sharks to blood. But I didn't expect him to be so quick. Or so disgustingly arrogant. That day, I was in the council hall, reviewing trade reports about the Bloodspring. The main doors were suddenly blasted open."Gracie!"Justin stormed in.His clothes were a mess, his eyes sunken, and his handsome face was a ruin, marred by the creeping black veins of the curse. The price of being near the demon-spawn.But when he saw me sitting on the main throne, a twisted look of ecstasy and possession exploded in his crimson eyes.He broke through the guards' line and seized my wrist."You really are here!" his voice was hoarse, excited. "I came for the Bloodspring and heard your name... I knew it was you!"He greedily inhaled my scent, as if I were his antidote. Then, his sharp vampire ey

Chapter 8

Gracie's POVJustin's hand never touched my shoulder. The air in the room suddenly turned to ice."Get your filthy hands off my daughter."A voice like rolling thunder boomed through the council hall.Justin froze. The raw, predatory power in that voice made him tremble instinctively. He turned his head and saw my father stepping out of the shadows—the Great Alpha of the Moonlit Alliance.Behind him stood a full squadron of his elite Moonshadow Guard, clad in black armor.Justin was arrogant, but he wasn't stupid. He instantly recognized the old wolf before him. The legendary king who ruled all the wolf packs in North America. He immediately dropped his arrogant swagger and tried to manage some semblance of diplomatic decorum, bowing slightly. "Great Alpha, I am Justin, Lord of the Crimson Court. This is a family matter. My mate, Gracie, has been disobedient and ran off to your lands...""Mate?"My father let out a cold laugh that made the hall's windows vibrate. Before Justin could re

Chapter 9

Gracie's POV"You have the nerve to mention the child, Justin?"I asked softly.Justin's head snapped up, his eyes red. "I know he's dead... I know I killed him... I'll spend the rest of my life atoning for it...""No, you're wrong."I clapped my hands. The curtain to a side door drew back, and a wet nurse walked out, holding a five-month-old baby boy.He was healthy, strong, and bright as a little sun.He had my amber eyes and a profile that resembled Justin's.But there wasn't a trace of vampiric coldness about him. Instead, he radiated the powerful life force unique to royal werewolves."Orion," I said, taking the child and kissing his rosy cheek. "Look at that pathetic man on the floor."Justin was completely stunned. He stared at Orion, trembling. He could feel it. That was his bloodline. The child hadn't turned into a dried-up husk or a monster. He was perfectly fine. Healthier and stronger than any vampire fledgling."Is... is that..." Justin reached out a trembling hand, trying
