~Brady~Much to my dismay, my mom caved when my dad called her out. He’s the only one that has that effect on her. When I was growing up, I thought it was because he was an alpha, but now…I lean away from the door and look at Lindsey. My light, my life, my everything. She loves me, challenges me, and captivates me, body and soul. There’s no one like her. And yet….I can’t shake this fear that her birthday will come and I won’t be her mate. I’ve kept it quiet, buried within my heart, afraid that if I said it out loud, I’d speak it into existence. The truth is she deserves so much better than me. Someone more patient, more thoughtful, more tame. She notices me staring and looks at me curiously. She squints her eyebrows briefly, as if asking “what?” with her expressions. I just shake my head. “She’s got to be our mate. There’s no one like her.” I silently agree with Knight. Even if she’s not our fated mate, she’s our chosen mate. I’ll never leave her side, never take her for granted.
