Semua Bab BREAK ME KNOT: An Omegaverse Quarterback Romance: Bab 11 - Bab 20

Declan's POVTwo things happened at once; I felt the bond lock into place, and I tried to pry myself out of Maeve, but to no avail. Have you ever tried having a serious talk with your cock lodged into a woman? Yeah, me neither. But today was a lot of firsts. “What is that look on your face, Declan?” She said, and she writhed beneath me, but a moan escaped me, and I groaned. I needed this knot to be gone right now. I willed it to be gone, and it seems like God had some mercy to spare me because I began to deflate. But the look on Maeve’s face told me the damage was done, and I was feeling extra raw myself. I hadn’t been thinking goddamnit. I had bitten her in the heat of the moment because that was what my alpha wanted, and I didn’t have to willpower to fight it in the moment. The meat of her flesh on my mouth, the rush of blood as it seeped in my mouth, and the taste of her fucking skin and blood. It felt like biting her had given me a taste of everything that was Maeve, and

Maeve's POVWhat woke me up was the feel of a heavy arm on my body. I was so used to waking up alone that it felt strange, and it took me a minute to remember where I was. To remember who was lying behind me. I froze and stood up from the bed. I felt Declan tense when my body had frozen, but if he wanted to play asleep, let him. I couldn’t find a care in me to give. I grabbed my phone and looked at the time. It was 5:37 am, which meant I had a good night's sleep regarding what happened. Nothing could get between me and my sleep. At least something was good about the night. I slid off the bed and sat on the edge as I put my shoes on. I was suddenly very happy that I had worn Nikes to the party. I couldn’t imagine having to trek across the campus in heels right now. After I put my shoes on, I turned to look at Declan one more time. I could feel the bond like an alive thing inside me that wanted to revolt as the thought of leaving him behind crossed my mind. But his words rang

Maeve's POVThe foundation I owned was not made for this. I had a good foundation, the expensive kind that came in a glass bottle and matched my undertone exactly and had never failed me in any situation I had needed it for. I had stood in front of the mirror for twenty minutes that morning, building it up layer by careful layer over the mark on my neck, and the result was passable. Barely. If nobody looked directly at me in decent lighting, I would probably get through the day without having to explain myself. It was fine. Everything was fine. I adjusted my collar and picked up my bag and went to class. Blackwood's campus in the early morning had a particular quality to it, all long light and dew on the grass and people who were either aggressively cheerful or still half asleep. I was neither. I was operating in a way that had nothing to do with how I actually felt, which was the way I had learned to move through the world from roughly the age of eight, when I figured out that

Maeve's POVMy mother called every Sunday at noon, without exception. Noon, on the dot, as if the call had been scheduled by someone with a military background and strong opinions about the moral implications of unpunctuality. For as long as I can remember, the Sunday call had been a fixture of my life as reliable and unavoidable as tax season or the annual Collins Foundation gala. I was sitting on my bed with a case law textbook open in my lap when my phone lit up. The contact photo I had assigned to my mother was one I had taken at last year's Christmas, where she was standing in front of the window in the Connecticut house with the snow outside behind her, wearing cream cashmere, looking like an oil painting of a senator's wife. She had never asked me why I used that particular photo. I had never explained that I used it as a reminder, that I needed one sometimes. A reminder of what she was, so I could remember how to be around her. I let it ring once before I answered. "Hey

Declan's POVI almost didn't go back. That's the thing I kept coming back to afterward, in the way you picked at something that had already decided to scar. I had been on that path, and I had felt her ahead of me, and I had made the decision to pull back and give her the distance she had been maintaining for three weeks. It was the right call. I had felt good about it for forty minutes before my alpha started the argument again. I gave myself until after practice. Practice ended, and I showered, ate, and I went back to my room. I sat at my desk with the drawing in front of me and had the argument with myself one more time. She was building a life here. So was I. The bond had made its connection and was maintaining it whether we engaged with it or not, and nothing about approaching her on a public path in the middle of the afternoon was going to untangle the knot we'd made the first night. The right thing to do was leave her alone, so I picked up my phone and went back to the q
