Semua Bab Used My Holiday to Tear Down the So-Called Queen: Bab 1 - Bab 8

After I snapped at Eileen without holding back that day, she held a grudge. Not only did she dump the most draining grunt work and the nightmare clients on my desk, but she also intentionally withheld my top-performer bonus from last month and then acted like it was perfectly justified."Since I wasn't managing this team last month, those performance metrics don't apply anymore. The bonus is off the table."It was obvious that she was making things tough for me. But in the workplace, the golden rule was to mind our own business. My colleagues were tearing her to shreds in our private group chat, but they'd still bow and scrape to her face, calling her "Ms. Shaffer" fawningly. She seemed to enjoy that flattery.Emboldened, she started turning her personal errands into tasks for the team and rushed to get them done as soon as possible."My son has a school art contest. Everyone, vote for Number 6. Get your friends and family to do it, too."My brother has a working quota to meet a

Eileen was seething. She first shot a venomous glare at the executive who'd just spoken up, then turned around and took a deep breath."This concerns our team, and I'll handle it after the meeting. Blaire, you may leave."I laughed and pulled out a chair, taking a seat right there and then."No way. What if you claim I fabricated everything after I leave?"Since all the executives are here for a meeting today, why don't you explain yourself and clear your name?"The executive traded glances before turning their collective gaze toward the CEO, Lawrence Norton. He remained silent and watched the two of us with a chillingly neutral expression, so none of the others dared speak. When Eileen saw that he wasn't stepping in, she started to panic and frantically explained, "Don't believe these screenshots, Mr. Norton. They're photoshopped, and I'd never done something like this."Lawrence ignored her. He finished scanning the printouts and looked up. "This is a chat log between you and

Eileen's hair was a mess, like she'd just been in a serious street fight. When she walked in, my colleagues were stunned. "Holy crap. What happened to Ms. Shaffer? Who hit her?"I looked up and had a pretty good guess that it was Oscar's handiwork, but I didn't say a single word.As her loyal little lapdog, Rachel was the first to rush to her side. She was clutching a tube of ointment and looked utterly concerned. "Oh my god, Ms. Shaffer. You need to put some medicine on this. It would be terrible if it left a scar!"Unfortunately for her, Eileen loathed this incompetent teammate. Seeing Rachel only reminded her of the printed screenshots scattered all over the floor and the slap she'd just received.Redirecting all that rage, she didn't hesitate to grab Rachel by the hair and slap her twice across the face, left then right. The entire office gasped in shock.Blindsided and terrified, Rachel dared not hit back. All the arrogance she'd shown me earlier vanished as she wailed in

Soon after Rachel was sent to the hospital, I heard she started vomiting nonstop and even had bloody diarrhea. At first, her family tried to pin the whole thing on Mom and blame her for slapping Rachel unconscious. But after her condition worsened into severe vomiting and diarrhea, even the doctors were confused. They ran tests overnight and discovered that Rachel's body recorded heavy metal levels way over the limit.I gasped and asked, "Why? Did she drink radioactive water or something?"A colleague shook her head. "Do you remember the fresh produce Eileen sold from her cousin's farm in the group chat?"That rang a bell.It was true that Rachel had been the first in line to buy everything, desperate to suck up to Eileen. She either ate the produce herself or gifted it to others. My colleague showed me a local news clip. During an investigation, reporters caught workers from the farm in question drawing water from a river downstream of a factory. The river was polluted with ind
