CHAPTER 53​CAROL​I open my eyes, noticing the sun’s rays streaming through the bedroom window—finally, some light after days of rain. I stare at the ceiling, somewhat confused; for an instant, I don’t know where I am. It takes me a moment to realize I had just been dreaming again.
