Nyssa's POV:For the first time in forever, life was peaceful. And for once, it wasn’t because I had shied away from confronting my enemies, or because they had suddenly disappeared. No, for once in my life, my mate and I were fighting back. I had not spent much time on my phone during the day, but I could still get the gist of what was happening out there in the city.It didn’t help that smoke was still rising into the skyline from the destruction of a couple of factories. Elena had been my main source of information during the day.She had told me about entire packs leaving the city in fear of being attacked by us. And every couple of hours, either she or an elder came to meet us with more news about Adrian’s crumbling empire.Initially, when I had heard that the factories were being destroyed, I had been a little bit scared. Not for myself, but for the innocent wolves in the Silver Ridge pack.A lot of the pack’s wolves were arrogant, selfish bastards, but a lot of them were also yo

Nyssa's POV:The very first thing I felt when I woke up was warmth. This wasn’t the warmth from the morning sun, nor was it the warmth from the warm, thick blankets that wrapped around us. No, this was the warmth from him.Even before I had opened my eyes, I was already smiling. Over the past couple of days, our bond has been growing extraordinarily. Now, it wasn’t just the faint thread that connected us.Now, our bond was a thick pulse that threaded us together. It was warm, reassuring and home. Even while I was asleep, it reminded me every second that no matter what I did, and no matter where I was, I was not alone. It took a while, and a couple more minutes of just snuggling up to my mind, but eventually, I opened my eyes. And just like I expected, the very first thing I saw was the amused face of my mate smiling down at me.His eyes were glowing silver, and the corner of his lips was lifted into a small smile of amusement. I blushed a little at being caught, even though I had alrea

Nyssa's POV:Out of everyone I might have expected to be standing in the meeting hall, she was the very last one.Unlike the other women who were clearly agitated and pissed, Lyra simply stood by the side and watched me. She had been standing at an angle, and that was why I had not initially noticed her when I had walked in.The moment I spotted her, I froze, and it wasn’t because I was afraid, it was because I could not understand why and how she was here.Just yesterday, we had destroyed her mate’s estate, and now, she was here? Why?I was lost in my thoughts for several seconds. I had frozen up, but so did the rest of the women, well, all except Vivienne, who was still storming towards me.She slowed down when she was a couple of meters away from me, but she was still walking. "Are you even listening to me?" she snapped, her voice rising an octave when she realized that I wasn’t even looking at her.I slowly turned to face her, and when she realized that she now had my attention, sh

Nyssa's POV:The stunned silence that followed after lasted for nearly a minute. It took the other members of the Crescent court that long to realize that I had just beaten Vivienne to the floor. It took them a couple more seconds before their own anger and rage overcame their reason. Surprisingly, Amara was the one who broke first."You bitch!" she screamed into the air, glaring at me with vitriol and hate. And then, before I could blink, she lunged straight at me. Marianne and Celestine were right behind her. These were all women who prided themselves on being elegant and demure. Now, they were abandoning all of that. Instead of being shocked and afraid like they had expected, I just stared at them with a note of disdain in my eyes.Anger really was the devil’s weapon. Somehow, their anger had caused them to forget that they were currently in my pack. Before the three women could get close to me, three other shadows shot past me.My guards. These were three female warriors of the Vis

Nyssa's POV:The walk back to the council wing of the meeting hall was completely silent. Judging by the skips she was making as we walked, Elena clearly had so many things she wanted to say, but she could read the room, and she knew that right now, I was not willing or ready to answer anyone’s questions.Eventually, when she realized where I was going to, she leaned in closer, sneaked in a hug and ran off, leaving me standing speechless and smiling.I flashed her a smile, and turned down the final corridor to the meeting hall. Before I even reached the large oak doors, I could already hear the echoes of the raised voices.Somehow, they were already arguing, and judging by just how loud their voices were, I could tell this had been going on for a while. I frowned, and slowed my steps.I needed to understand what was happening before I walked in. Just like I had expected, the meeting had started without me. I wasn’t shocked, I knew that with everything that had happened yesterday, the e
