In the restroom, Walton Frazier clutched a silk shirt with a low neckline that nearly reached my navel and looked at me disappointedly. "Riley Jensen, our performance for the entire year next year depends on this deal with Ms. Cobb. Don't screw it up at a time like this."As he spoke, he started stripping off my perfectly neat suit jacket and shoved that flashy, flamboyant shirt into my arms."When you're doing business, you've got to play the game. Clients will lose interest if they see that you're dressed like an insurance salesman, so how are we supposed to close the deal?"The fabric was thin enough to see through, designed to be suggestive and provocative. It was a piece of clothing that would be seen on male escorts in nightclubs.Yet there he was, dressed in a sharp suit, looking like a proper corporate elite while trying to turn me into a male escort for the night."This neckline is too low, and the fabric is sheer, Mr. Frazier. This isn't appropriate," I calmly stated.

"We owe Ms. Cobb an explanation for what happened today, Ms. Nash. We can't have one bad apple ruin our reputation with Cobb Group!" Walton said, neatly tossing the problem back to Lynette. With people whispering all around us, and for fear of upsetting Mable and costing the company a major client, Lynette just wanted to cut the damage short. She rubbed her temples and said, "Enough. Riley, regardless of whether this was a misunderstanding, you're the reason Ms. Nash is upset is an undeniable fact."You'll hand over your work on Scennia Group today and report to HR tomorrow. You're being demoted to entry level with a pay cut and starting over from the bottom."Now that Walton was completely cleared of responsibility, he let out a long, silent breath of relief before leaning into my ear and whispering, "See that? I'm a veteran of the company, and if I say you take the fall, you'll do it. Don't even think about anyone backing you up."You're just unlucky today, kid. You had to run i

"Mr. Jensen! Mr. Jensen, please just reconsider…" Lynette desperately pleaded behind us.The moment we stepped out, Mable grabbed me by the ear and shoved me straight into her car."Mable! Ow! That hurts! "This isn't the way home; where are we going?" I protested and peered out at the unfamiliar streets.Gripping the steering wheel, Mable shot me a look of pure loathing at my deep-V, see-through shirt. Her expression was gloomy as she snapped, "I'm taking you shopping!"If Mom and Dad see you walking into the house wearing those scraps of fabric, they'll skin me alive!"Mable was a woman of action. Not only did she drag me into a mall, but she also summoned my best friend, Eason Fletcher, over as a style consultant. The mission was to dress me in a way that would minimize the lecture she was bound to receive later. After tossing that flamboyant shirt into the trash can like it was waste, Eason started holding up the latest seasonal looks against me. His brows were deeply furrow

Lynette lunged over and practically pleaded. "It was all a misunderstanding! Walton's just an idiot, and I've given him a serious warning!"Ril—no, Mr. Jensen, if you'd come back, the vice president position is yours. Name your salary."You can even be the boss if you want, and I'll step down to be your vice president, as long as you stay with us."Even the colleagues who'd followed Walton's lead and shunned me were suddenly all smiles. "She's right, Riley. The team can't function without you.""I always knew Riley was the real talent. Walton can't even compare."Watching the spineless opportunists switch sides so fast made me sick, so I cut Lynette off and said, "Ms. Nash, I'm never coming back. But since we worked together, I'll give you a piece of friendly advice."I walked over to Walton's laptop, pulled up a data file with practiced ease, and pointed at a row of figures highlighted in red."Mr. Frazier faked the core metrics in a rush to meet deadlines and steal credit. I

It was a skin-tight, nearly see-through mesh bodysuit that was more vulgar and revealing than anything Walton had ever forced me to wear. The fabric was cheap and reeked of the tawdry desperation of a lowly nightclub. But this time, Walton was the one who was being forced into those scraps of clothes."I was only hired for admin work and not as a male escort, Ms. Sage," Walton said. His face was pale as he tried to salvage the last, pathetic shred of his pride. There was a sudden, clear slap.Margot pulled her hand back, and her jowls trembled with indignation. "What's the high and mighty act for? Wasn't this exactly what you did at your last company?"You were fine doing it back then, but why can't you now?"I'm telling you—don't bring that director attitude in there. You know that you're blacklisted, and you should be grateful that I even hired you."A little touching won't kill you, and now that you work for me, you do what I say."Walton clutched his burning cheek and clenc
