"I'm not fucking drunk, Jake.""Then you've definitely lost your mind, Mitch!"The words exploded through the speaker.Jake continued, his voice relentless."I know, I know, I know there have been some changes in your mental health since Lena left you, but now I'm sure of it. You've completely lost it, Mitch. Man, can you even hear yourself?! You want me to go to some dangerous city, head to the estate of some Mafia Lord, and break you out of some dungeon? Who do you think I am? Batman?""Call the police, that's all you have to do."Mitch replied."And tell them what?"Mitch opened his mouth.Nothing came out.His friend continued, relentless."Hello, officer. My idiot friend went to a billionaire's private estate, found out the ex-wife he mistreated is the billionaire's daughter, he tried to get back with her and is now locked in the basement. Could you please send a squad to rescue him? Oh, and also make sure to let this billionaire know he's hurting his daughter's precious husband.

Lena finally made it to the flower garden, but Tarzan was nowhere to be found. She slowly turned in a full circle, scanning every corner. He wasn’t there. With a tired sigh, she lowered herself onto a nearby bench. Her feet were killing her. Those beautiful heels had seemed like a wonderful idea earlier—perfect for spicing up her sexy outfit. Right now, they felt like a personal attack on her body. She discreetly rubbed her aching ankle.“My feet hurt so much. I’m getting rid of these heels for good,” she muttered under her breath.Unfortunately, she didn’t even have her phone with her. If she wanted to call Tarzan, she’d have to find her friends first. One of them was sure to have her purse—she’d handed it over earlier for safekeeping. As she stared absently at the flowers, an unwanted thought slipped into her mind.Mitch.She immediately frowned and shook her head, as if she could physically throw the thought away.*Why am I thinking about him again just because I ran into him unexp

The sound of fist meeting flesh echoed outside the dark room where Mitch was locked in. Another blow sent him stumbling sideways. He barely managed to steady himself before Tarzan grabbed him by the collar and drove another punch into his stomach. Mitch doubled over, coughing violently. "Please…" Mitch's voice cracked as he struggled to keep his swollen eye open. "I swear I'll never go near Lena again." Tarzan's knuckles found Mitch's ribs again, and he crumpled against the concrete wall, sliding down until he was a heap on the cold floor. "Get up. Don't bore me," Tarzan said calmly, glaring down at him. Mitch coughed, blood spattering across his split lips. His face had been completely ruined—swollen eye, blood streaming from his nose, lips already puffing purple. "I untied you because I wanted this fair." Tarzan said and crouched down, his massive body blocking the light. "And yet here you are, still on the ground. Still not giving me a single hit. I'm disappointe

She forced another smile, though it felt like broken glass in her mouth. "Your grandson is very cute. He looks just like his mother." The lie tasted bitter on her tongue. But saying the baby looked more like his father would invite questions—questions she wasn't prepared to answer. Victor shook his head and laughed. "Doesn't he? Though I must say, I think he favors his father more." He chuckled and reached for the boy, who went willingly into his grandfather's arms. "Don't you, little man?" Lena's throat constricted. "Where is his father?" she asked, aiming for casual curiosity, but the question landed heavier than she intended. Elena's gaze snapped to her, assessing her like a suspect. "I don't know, unfortunately," Victor said, bouncing the toddler gently. "Could have introduced you to him, but I'll make sure he joins us for the family dinner." Lena's pulse hammered against her ribs. *I better tell Scar to release him to avoid drama* "I'll make sure to tell him to come

AUTHOR'S POVLena heart was racing wildly after that realization.*What am I supposed to say now?!*"Did you just call me,Mitch?"His voice came again. "No—Tarzan, it's not—" She reached for him, but he stepped back, just slightly, and the small distance felt like a canyon. "You thought I was Mitch," he said. Not a question. His voice was flat but she could hear the hurt underneath. "When I held you, you thought I was him?" Lena's throat constricted. She don't know how to explain it to him. What if he thinks she was the one that invited Mitch? "You assumed it was your ex husband? You said his name like you expected him to be the one holding you." Tarzan's jaw worked. Lena's heart hammered. "I'm sorry." The words felt pathetically inadequate. "I didn't mean to—I was scared. I thought he followed me out here. I thought—" She paused because her defense was weak and to her , it probably going to trigger Tarzan more.. "I'm sorry," she whispered again.Tarzan stared at her for
