*Bella's POV*By the time Daniel and I reached the restaurant, I had stopped pretending I was capable of making another decision.He chose the table, ordered water before I remembered I was thirsty, and handed me the menu without commenting on the fact that I had been staring at the same page for nearly a minute.“You said Italian,” he reminded me.“I know what I said.”“You are reading the desserts.”I lowered the menu and found the smallest hint of amusement on his face. “Maybe I want tiramisu for dinner.”“You have been in court all day, you barely ate breakfast, and Chloe told me you survived lunch on coffee.”I narrowed my eyes. “Chloe talks too much.”“She likes you alive.”“So do I.”“That is encouraging.”I laughed despite the exhaustion pressing behind my eyes. Daniel had always been good at that. He never dragged laughter out of me. He left a door open until I walked through it myself.The waiter came, and Daniel ordered after I finally chose pasta.
