Elvira’s POV I glared at Karisa with anger and for the first time the words I didn’t think I would have said came out of my mouth, “I wish you had died yesterday then maybe my life would have been better after your funeral.” “What did you say?” Karisa yelled as she pushed me. I was done being the good guy. With every strength in me, I pushed her and she fell to the floor. “You dare to call me a monster? You are worse than a monster, you are the devil himself,” I tightened my fist, “I had forgiven you but now I will make sure to destroy you completely, You always look at me as your enemy while I look at you as my sister but as of today I declare that you aren’t my sister!! You are my enemy! I was willing to let go of everything for the happiness of my child but now I understand you need to be gone for my child to be happy so watch and see what I’m going to do.” Karisa laughed from the floor, “Did you just open your eyes?” She scoffed, “What is a weakling like you going to

Elvira’s POV I was the happiest person alive right now. Akira’s room had been prepared and she was coming home later in the evening. I haven’t seen her since she opened her eyes. I wanted to go to the hospital after Calix promised to bring her home but I changed my mind and waited till the day she came home. I know she will be angry that I haven’t come to see her once but she will be happy to see me. Akira’s speech has improved, her physical therapy is going well, I can’t wait to see my daughter and on the other hand, my parents are coming back to the country this afternoon. Calix was going to pick them up from the airport but I would love to follow him and make my presence known to them with my real identity. I can’t wait to see the reaction on their faces. “Are you sure you don’t want to wait at home for Akira?” Calix asked for the tenth time today. I shook my head, “I want to welcome them and I can see my baby when she gets back.” I needed to see the color drained from

Elvira’s POV I would be a liar to say I didn’t expect her to collapse. Matter of fact I expected her to overreact but she was so calm. Ace rushed to where Mom had passed out. We brought him along in case something like this happened, “Mom… mom…. Mom,” Ace called as he checked up on her. “Do we need to take her to the hospital or take her home?” I asked emotionless. “Who really are you?” That was the first word Father asked since he saw me. “Let’s take her home,” Ace interrupted then Calix ordered the security to take her to the car. “I’m who you think I am,” I said then turned to leave. “It can’t be, my daughter is dead,” Father’s voice broke, “There weren’t even any remains for me to bring back home.” Without sparing him a glance I said, “Let’s talk after lunch,” I said then walked away alongside Calix. “You did well,” Calix patted me on the shoulder when we entered the car. “I was expecting Mother to react,” I laughed nervously. “What do you want to do next?” Ca

Elvira’s POV “A murderer?” Calix said before I could respond, “If there is a murderer in this room, please feel free to call the cops and I will make sure I get to the bottom of it.” Mother glared at Calix, “Are you supporting your wife?” “Mr Halethor, I will politely ask you to tell your wife to keep calm else this deal will be called off,” Calix said to Father, and knowing Father, he tried to speak to Mother, but she wasn’t responding. “To hell with this deal,” Mother provoked, “Should I inform the cops about the nonsense your wife did? How dare she push my daughter into a naked wire, she could have died!” “You are still the same, supporting your biological daughter without thinking, did you bother……” “Do you have evidence that my wife pushed your daughter?” Calix interrupted and Mother stayed quiet, “Well I do have evidence that your daughter tried to kill my wife.” “What is shown on a CCTV might not always be the right thing, so please let’s have our dinner peacefully

Elvira’s POV “Let go of me,” I struggled to free my hand from Caspar’s grip, he pulled me into the study and threw me against the wall. I held my rib where I felt the sharp pain, I managed to stand up, “Have you lost it!!” “Don’t raise your voice at me!” Casper yelled back at me, “What madness was that downstairs?” I took a deep breath, “What the heck are you spewing?” “What gave you the right to call Calix Akira’s father when her father is alive and well?” Casper yelled at me. “What could I do? When the father who is alive and well abandoned his child and another man had to step up and take responsibility!” I yelled, “My husband may not be her biological father but he is a better father than you would ever be!” Casper laughed, “Your husband? He isn’t your husband, he is nothing but a useless lover who doesn’t know his lane.” “Casper!!” I pointed my finger at him, “Watch your tongue.” “My tongue?” Casper took steps closer to me, caging me near the wall, “Let me remind

Elvira’s POV I walked out of the room without looking back. I couldn’t breathe, my chest was tight, I couldn’t dare to digest what I had just heard. How could he live with me with so much hatred in his heart? He got me gifts, he took me out on dates; was all that a pretense or did a part of him care about me? Karisa was the bane of my existence yet she killed me without thinking twice. Having an affair with the man I made my life revolve around and smiling at me is worse than death. My airway was tight, the more I tried to gasp for breath the more I could feel myself shutting down. My eyes blurred to the extent I couldn’t see the floor and my body felt extremely light. I couldn’t tell where I was or if anyone was there. I found myself landing on the floor. With one hand clutching my chest, I managed to use the second hand to find my way on the floor. Someone grabbed me and helped me sit on the floor, I didn’t know who it was, I couldn’t see the person's blurry lips move but

Elvira’s POV I stepped into the kitchen and it brought back painful memories. I was always forced to make food for everyone, even though there were servants in the house, but today I willingly stepped into the kitchen to make breakfast. This was the first time I was cooking for my husband. I had cooked for him before, but only as a housemate, not as his wife. “Ma’am you don’t have to come into the kitchen, Mr Calix will scold us,” One of the chefs pointed out. I smiled as I tied the apron around my waist, “I want to fix him something real quick, you can make breakfast for the rest of the house.” “Y’all can excuse us,” Calix said as he entered the kitchen, “You can use the other kitchen to prepare food for the rest of the household.” “You don’t have to send them out,” I whispered. “I don’t want them to starve so they should make use of the other kitchen,” Calix explained and I understood him. Calix wrapped his hand around my waist, “So my lovely wife, what are we having

Elvira’s POV I couldn’t speak, what could I even say? He said Calix and Elvira. Not Mr and Mrs Kyrell, not the girl from the Jordan’s family, not Akira’s mum, not the crazy girl who is out for revenge but just Elvira. I almost forgot I had an identity of my own. My eyes sting as I look around the restaurant, the flowers, the music, the dinner just for two. He didn’t do it out of obligation, he did it for me. I have been to countless family dinners, I have worn dresses to those dinners in the past but none of them compare to what is before me today. I bit the inside of my mouth before saying, “Why…. Why…. Did you do this?” Calix furrowed his eyebrows, “Hey missy, what do you mean why? Are you saying you don’t deserve this?” All my life I have begged to be loved, I have begged to be seen, I have begged to be heard and now it was finally happening, I don’t even know what to say. “That’s not…….” “Since that’s not the case then let’s not bring it up,” Calix held me by the sho

Elvira’s POV I was extremely anxious about today’s hunt Father had organized; I had a feeling something wasn’t right, but I couldn’t figure out what. Calix gently rubbed my shoulders from behind, he closed the gap between us, his chin resting on my head as he said, “We can still cancel if you are feeling restless.” I sighed, my eyes looking at him in the mirror, “It’s just a business meeting we must attend.” “Sure,” Calix planted a kiss on my neck, he picked up his car keys, “Let’s go.” “Do I wait for you to get back or do I take Akira on her evening walk?” Akira’s nurse asked when she saw me in the living room. I checked the watch on my hand and mentally calculated how long I would spend at the hunting field. “I will take her on the evening walk myself and make sure everything goes according to schedule.” “You must be happy that you’re being invited to this meeting,” Karisa’s irritating voice rang in the living room. Only if Calix agreed to let us move out of this house

Elvira’s POV As I walked to the open area where the dining table was set, Grandma stared at me with both surprise and curiosity. My eyes watered upon seeing her, “Grandma,” I called as I wrapped my hands around her in a soft hug. “El…. El… vira?” Her warm tears dropped on my shoulder, “My baby is alive?” I pulled away from the hug, I nodded my head as I wiped the tears away from her face, “Your baby is alive granny.” “How…. What happened? You didn’t come to see me? You didn’t think about how I would be living an empty life?” Tears flowed freely from granny’s eyes and I wiped them again. I sucked in my tears as I spoke, “I wanted to reach out but you never told me the elderly home you were in, I didn’t have a picture so I couldn’t reach out.” At the mention of the elderly home, Grandma looked uncomfortable so I didn’t want to add more to her discomfort. She never mentioned it and she never allowed us to visit and I wonder why. “We have a lot to catch up on,” Grandma leaned
