“Tell me it’s a lie,” Dante said, his voice shaking, his hand fisted in Luca’s collar. Luca tried to twist away, but Dante slammed him back against the desk. Papers scattered, and a glass fell and shattered on the floor. “Tell me it’s a lie!” Dante roared again, his face inches from Luca’s. Bianca screamed from the corner, “Dante, stop! You don’t understand—” “Oh, I understand,” Dante spat. “You killed my child. You both did!” Luca shoved Dante off him and threw a punch, catching him hard on the jaw. Dante staggered, his lip bleeding, then came back twice as hard. His fist connected with Luca’s face — once, twice — until blood splattered across the desk.
