(Aaron's POV)I stepped into the penthouse and the sound of Jolene’s laughter welcomed me before I even closed the door. She was on the couch, legs tucked under her, phone pressed to her ear, talking excitedly.“Yes, I’ll be home soon. Tell Dad I said hi and that I miss you both so much.” She laughed again at something her daughter said on the other end. “I love you more, sweetheart. Okay, talk soon.”She hung up and looked over at me with that familiar mischievous grin. “Hey, big brother.”I walked over and gave her a quick hug. “Say hi to your husband and daughter for me next time.”“Will do,” she said, squeezing me back before pulling away. “They miss their favorite uncle.”We exchanged pleasantries for a minute, about how her flight was, how her daughter was doing in school, the usual catch-up siblings do when they see each other after a long time. Then I asked, “How are you? When did you get in?”“I got here this morning,” she said. “I used my key. I figured you wouldn’t mind.”
