[ Cassandra ]“Dr. Miller, it’s lunch time. Please, join us today. It’s been a very long time since we had a staff lunch.” One of my colleagues came to call me to have lunch.I had a busy day. I barely had time to grab a coffee. There were emergency cases.“I am sorry, I want to join you all but I have promised my son to spend my break time with him. But tomorrow I’ll treat you all, I promise.” I politely turned down the young doctor’s offer.“No problem, Dr. Miller. We understand. Cassius barely gets to see you nowadays.” He said and left.I stretched my tensed arms and made my way to Cassius’ ward. He’d be discharged by next day and till then I had to make sure Dominic wouldn’t reach him.I opened his room’s door but I found it empty. It was enough to alert me.“Cassius, are you in there?” I knocked at the bathroom door but it was also unlocked.I hurriedly rushed out of the room and scanned the corridor. There were other children but Cassius was nowhere to be found.“Cassius!”I cal

[ Dominic ]“Dr. Miller?”To say shock was an understatement, it’d be a lie.The masked doctor was none other than the ‘Dr. Miller’ I had been trying to contact for a months.“You..You…are Dr. Miller?” Amelia stuttered.“Yes, I am. Please, excuse me now. I have patients to attend.” The masked doctor said in a flat baritone before leaving.“Oh, my God! What have I done? I insulted the doctor who could treat me. Dominic, what should I do now?” Amelia was panicked and somewhat regretting.“I told you many times to keep a leash on your temperament, Amy but you never listen.” I shook my head. She looked like she’d burst into crying any moment. Dr. Miller was our last hope and losing her would mean Amelia had to wait longer for treatment and we were running out of time.I followed the doctor with long strands. I had to clean the mess that Amelia had created out of impatience.“Doctor, please, listen.” I said louder as she ignored when I called her.But she avoided me like I was an invisible

[ Dominic ]I hadn’t seen Dr. Miller in the hospital after she flatly rejected my request to treat Amelia. I saw a strange fire in those light brown eyes. A rage that wasn’t linked to Amelia’s rude behaviour. It had left me puzzled but I couldn’t jump on conclusions because I wasn’t good at reading people otherwise I would have seen Cassandra’s pain.I shook off her thoughts. Why every single thought led me to her?Amelia had sprinkled her ankle when we were stepping out of the hospital to leave. The doctors advised her to rest for a few hours so the swelling would subside. My pack needed me but I left Dustin in charge of the pack but he couldn’t carry on my responsibilities for a long time.“Sir, you’re still here?”I was pulled out of my thought by a familiar sweet voice and I looked at the source of the sweet distraction.“Hello, young man. Nice to see you again.” I smiled at him.I saw him holding a football and other kids playing in the garden.“You live here all the time? I mean

[ Cassandra ]The party was for only elites, the most powerful individuals from all over the country. It was ironical how the space was occupied by both humans and alphas. The low whispers, graceful conversations and slow music, it was perfect yet I felt bored and my mind kept drifting back to my son.“Dr. Miller, your research papers are read by the Becket Hall University, your revolutionary vision and your dedication to cure rare but fatal deceases are promising. Would you give us your precious time to address our students. You are an inspiration.”“Thank you, Mr. Lee. I will definitely think about it if I have time but for next six months, my schedule is packed.” I smiled, my response was metaphoric.I was approached by famous educationist. Well, it wasn’t the first time I received such reputed invitation but involving myself with social life and limelight would hinder my solemn dedication towards my research.I walked around the room, meeting same and new people but avoided to hav

[ Dominic ]“Alpha, the meeting with the tribe of Nonger Hills is scheduled at eleven today. They won’t be easy to convince.” Dustin entered my office.“Can you attend it in my behalf? I have to attend pack’s internal meeting. The financial reports, the supply of ration, this isn’t my job but I have to do it.” I slammed my fists on the table in frustration.“I am sorry, Alpha. I’ll try to find some responsible people to take over these duties. It should be Ms. Amelia who has to take these responsibilities even when she’s not married to you yet.” Dustin spoke.Knox growled in annoyance.“Dustin, stay in your limit and assign these works to Henry. He’ll do it from today onwards.” I ordered him to hand over the smaller duties to my Gamma.“Sure, Alpha.” He bowed and about to leave.“Tell a maid to bring coffee for me and do not disturb me unless there’s an emergency.”He nodded and closed the door behind.I could barely concentrate on anything. My mind kept drifting back to human doctor
