“Luna, you’re two weeks pregnant!”
My mind went numb, eyes unable to believe what my doctor showed me on the monitor screen. A small life was forming inside me.
My baby.
Mine and Dominic’s child, the heir to NightShade Pack.
“Is..is it true?” I asked her again to confirm, my eyes were moistened.
“Yes, Luna. You are finally blessed with a child. I hope now this pack would stop demeaning you and see you as their true Luna. You are also a doctor, how could you not notice the changes in your body?” Ellie, my friend and trainee doctor at the pack hospital said, placing a hand on my shoulder.
“I was so occupied in the hospital and doing my duties as Luna that I hardly got time to sleep.” I forced a smile.
“I hope these people will see your efforts and sacrifices once this baby is born.” She said with a genuine smile.
It’d be like crying for the moon if I expect the pack to love me and accept me wholeheartedly and not under their Alpha’s fear. But with this baby, a seed of hope growing inside me, I could dream of receiving some genuine respect and also my husband’s affection.
“Ellie, can you please keep my pregnancy records confidential until I break this news to Dominic? I don’t trust anyone around here except you. Dominic is coming home tonight and till then I want it to remain between us.” I requested her.
“Sure, Luna but make sure you eat healthy and avoid stress. In your condition, this alpha baby might require more of the nutrition from you.” She advised me and prescribed pre-natal medicines that pregnant she-wolves had to take.
“Although, I am wolfless but I will protect this baby with my life.” I said placing my hand on my belly.
“It’s undeniable. This baby and the alpha are lucky to have you in their lives.” She said.
I left the hospital and went to the pack house to see the preparations of my husband’s grand welcome. He had gone for two weeks to fight the rogues. It was a fierce battle that he was fighting with other alphas.
I was still trying to process the news but I was overwhelmed.
I never thought it would be possible. Not in a million years.
For two years, I had been his Luna in name only. On our wedding day, Dominic made it perfectly clear: this was a marriage on papers. He would never touch me. Never.
Because his heart belonged to someone else. My older sister. His true mate.
She died two years ago in an accident, and a part of him died with her.
I knew I could never compare to my dead sister. I wasn't foolish enough to try. So I did the only thing I could— trying my best to be a worthy luna. I attended every meeting, resolved every dispute, cared for every wolf who needed help. I told myself that if I worked hard enough, if I became worthy enough, maybe one day Dominic would look at me. Really look at me.
But two weeks ago everything changed.
The night of his farewell banquet before he left to fight against rogues, he came home drunk.
I vividly remember the touch when he hugged me out of the blue and asked me if he could kiss me, he told me that he badly wanted me.
I allowed myself to be loved by my husband for the first time in two years.
That night sowed the seeds of love and a new hope inside my womb.
“Luna, the alpha has arrived at the pack. You are expected to be present for his welcome.”
A voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I saw a guard standing at my office door.
Dominic was home. Finally, my wait was over and I could tell him about our baby.
I wiped my tears. My heart swelled and my feet were already running towards the gates to welcome my husband whom I was about to see after a long time.
He stepped out of the car, clad in a grey suit, his tall, muscular frame and alpha aura intimated the air around him, he had the emotionless expression but his charismatic personality, the most handsome face made my stomach churn.
I placed my hand on my belly. I was carrying the flesh of this man. I can’t wait to see his reaction when he learns about his pup.
“Dominic!” I whispered his name.
Our eyes met for a flicker of a second and my heart fluttered. Those ocean blue eyes captivated me.
I walked towards him but my feet stopped when he stepped aside and lifted someone out of the car.
My heart sank.
It was a woman, not some woman but my older sister whom everyone considered dead two years ago.
“Amelia?” I gasped.
My sister, his fated mate and true love was back!
[ Cassandra ]“What do you want to say, Alpha?”I broke the excruciating silence that prevailed inside the room. I could see his intense stare on me which made it even more hard for me to act normally.“You met Lucian in the evening.”So, it was about Lucian again. How did it not cross my mind before?“Yes, I met him today. It wasn’t a secret place.” I told him.“May I know the reason why you met the pack’s enemy? I told you to stay away from him, didn’t I, Doctor?” His tone reflected his anger but I was least bothered. The man had lost every right to feel this way.“I don’t think I have to report you about my day to day life events, Alpha. I am not conspiring against you. That’s all you need to know.” I kept my answer firm.He snorted and ran his fingers thorough his hairs. He always did it whenever he feels angry.“I know you aren’t but I don’t trust Lucian. He isn’t a friend. Why can’t you understand this simple thing?” He raised his voice a little. It was the end of my patience wi
[ Cassandra ]I couldn’t think of another thing except the disturbing discovery about Roseline Woodford. The letter felt heavier in my pocket. If Roseline Woodford’s children suffered the same symptoms and she was able to find cure for her son, the next alpha then I was just a step away from finding the first door to heal my child. But the bigger challenge was how to convince Roseline to spill the whole truth. What I’d learnt from Lucian, it was just a tiny fragment and jumping to an indefinite conclusion would be a drastic mistake.“Dr. Miller, we need to talk.”Dominic’s deep voice forced me to halt in my track and I looked at the man who always managed to stir something inside me against the firm will of my mind.“Alpha, I am going to have dinner. Your grandmother called me. I think you are also heading there.” I kept my response brief but this time I didn’t make it flat or rude.Dominic was the last person I was bothered about.“After the dinner we’ll talk. Please, come to my offi
[ Dominic ]“Alpha Dominic, don’t get us wrong but our patience is thinning now. It has been over five years since my daughter returned and still, she has to live just as a guest, a liability at your pack.”Alpha Aiden said, who was sitting across me in my office before the dinner.“My reasons are very clear and logical, Alpha. She is very sick. You aren’t here to see how she struggles with changing weather. She can’t eat just anything. Her fever spikes often. Do you really think that a luna’s job is limited to a title?”I leisurely sipped my whiskey. I had no interest in whatever business brought him to my pack. I can’t forget how he blamed Cassandra for everything what had happened to Amelia.“Very well, you are still waiting for that runt, don’t you?”His reference to Cassandra in a derogatory language made me growl. I gave him a side glare.“You found Cassandra an easy target, Alpha. She had nothing to do with Amelia’s sufferings. I had run an investigation myself. Cassandra actua
[ Cassandra ]I impatiently tapped my feet against the old root of the tree and watched the sun going down in the west horizon. What kind of game Lucian was trying to play?My mind wheeled in all the possible directions but his bipolar behaviour wasn’t taking me to a concrete conclusion.Maybe agreeing to meet him like this could backfire on me but it felt an easier choice rather than facing my tormentors who caused my wolf to die.“I didn’t expect you to come, Doctor.”Lucian’s voice forced me to tear my gaze away from the beautiful scenery in front of me to the man leaning against the tree trunk.“You know it’s really creepy to stalk and watch women like this, Mr. Beckett.” I reminded him.“I just came and you were too busy to admire the nature so I didn’t interrupt you. Anyway, I have something for you.” He said and then forwarded a manila envelope towards me.“What is it?” I asked.“Read it yourself. I think it might help you to find your answers, Becca.” He said.Taking the envel

[ Cassandra ]“There’s only one woman in my heart and that’s you, Amy. I have only loved you because you’re irreplaceable in my life.”Dominic’s confession crushed the last flicker of hope inside me.
