Lahat ng Kabanata ng Doctor's Desire: The Billionaire Alpha's Demand for Me: Kabanata 21 - Kabanata 30

Adam's money came through the next day. I tried to send it back, but it just returned. Adam wasn't going to take no as an answer."Mommy, when is your nice friend going to come over again?" Quin sweetly asked after swallowing a mouthful of porridge.I looked up from my phone and felt a slight hint of guilt. Perhaps it was because I used Adam's money to pay my bills or because I was lying to my daughter about her father. Or both."He is not my friend, and hopefully, we won't ever see him again." I shrugged, pretending that Adam meant nothing to me."Oh." She frowned.I felt horrible that Quin couldn't know her father was actually still alive and possibly could be a part of her life. But I reminded myself of the truth I kept pushing down. Adam had never wanted Quin in the first place. He had rejected her before she was even born, spoken about her as if she were a mistake he could erase. Why would that change now? Why would a man who once wanted nothing to do with his child suddenl

For the rest of the night, I tried to figure out how to deal with my feelings for Adam. So, as with all the decisions I made, I drew up a pros and cons list.Did you know pros and cons is actually Latin for the phrase for and against? Let's see… cons: Adam kind of kidnapped me, is arrogant, aggressive, didn't care that there was a possibility our child would die… emotionally distant, selfish, kept me locked up, doesn't respect that I want space…I read over the list. Now pros: hot, makes me feel desired, is my destined mate, heart races when I'm with him, strong, can protect me… all good qualities from being an Alpha, makes me want him, good in bed, and I love him…As I wrote down the last point in the pros list, I shook my head and quickly scratched it out.I knew it was true. I did love Adam, but if I allowed myself to believe that, then I wouldn't be able to turn away from him when he broke my heart again.I sighed, then turned in for the night. The next morning, Quin ran into my r

I looked up at him and struggled to breathe as everything around me became dizzy."Focus on me. Just look at me and breathe," he added.Through the tears, I nodded and stared into his eyes, which were filled with worry. For a moment, I wished there was another life somewhere out there. A life where Adam and I could simply be together. No lies, secrets or dead loved ones haunting us.No packs, no Alphas, no enemies, and no impossible choices. Just us.Maybe in that life, I wouldn't have spent years running from him, and he wouldn't have spent years searching for me. Maybe Quin could have grown up with both her parents together from the start.Maybe we could have been happy.I did as he said and forced myself to breathe.In... and... out. Over and over again."There you go," Adam whispered as I calmed down."Thank you," I finally said and pulled away from him."Tell me what happened. Where's Quin?""He... he took her.""Who took her?""Luke.""That guy from the bar. What did he want?""

I opened my eyes to the sound of children playing outside the bedroom window.Everything came back to me at once."Quin!" I gasped.I scrambled out of bed and realised I had different clothing on. I quickly looked out of the window and noticed I was in a small village near a mountain.Where was I?I quickly ran over to the door to check if it was unlocked, which, to my surprise, it was. I silently opened the door and then sprinted out of the house. The children outside stopped playing and stared at me as I ran past. One child, a boy with curly brown hair and big blue eyes, pointed towards the left. Was he showing me the way?The child was a werewolf and loyal to his pack. I was just a stranger. Why would he help me?With that in mind, I decided to run to the right—opposite to where the child pointed.I rushed into a forest and ducked behind a large boulder to check if anyone had followed me. While I stopped, I quickly rubbed lea

"But…” I shook my head then added, “Adam is my mate."For the briefest moment, Luke’s jaw tightened. A flash of anger crossed his face at the mention of Adam’s name, darkening his eyes. It was gone almost as quickly as it appeared, and he forced his expression back into one of calm neutrality, shoving whatever emotion he felt deep down."It is possible to have a second mate. Rare but possible." He explained and silence fell between us.I sat there staring at him, trying to process what he had just said. My mind scrambled for answers, desperately attempting to make sense of this new discovery. A second mate? I hadn't even known such a thing was possible. Questions collided inside my head faster than I could sort through them."I'm sorry,” I said as I stood up from the table. “I just need a bit of space."Luke nodded before I turned away from him and quickly ran back to the house.I couldn't believe I had a second mate. How long had Luke known? Why didn’t
