Lahat ng Kabanata ng Claimed By The Hockey Captain: Kabanata 31 - Kabanata 40

LucasI stared up at the white ceiling of my hospital room. I was utterly frustrated with myself. My whole chest felt tight with anger. This injury was the absolute worst thing that had ever happened to me. It felt like I was living inside my own worst nightmare. Why would such a horrible tragedy happen to me right now? I was at the sweetest spot of my entire hockey career. Everything was going perfectly until last night.I swallowed hard. The painful image of the accident flashed through my mind again. This was all the fault of that motherfucker from the opposing team. If he had not pushed me from behind, I would not have lost my balance. I would not have fallen onto the hard ice.I got even more tense just thinking about it. I hated the way I had absolutely no control over my own body when the hit happened. I was completely helpless. But what had I really been thinking about right before the crash?I mut

LoriNerves wrecked through my entire body as I entered the building. It was the large building where the fashion house was located. Today was my very first day on the job. So, of course, I was going to be incredibly nervous.I met a blonde girl sitting by the reception desk. I forced myself to flash her a neat, professional smile. But the smile did not quite reach my eyes.“Hi,” I said, clearing my throat. “I am Lori Davis. I am the new intern here.”Her blue eyes remained locked on the large computer screen in front of her face. She did not even look up at me. With a very stern, cold tone, she spoke.“Walk straight through that hallway,” she said. “Take a left turn and go meet the boss in her office. She will be the one to give you instructions on what to do today.”I nodded my head at her quietly. I took the exact directions she just gave me. But at the back of my mind, I wondered about her attitude. Wh

Lucas My body felt like a wrecking ball had smashed directly into it. In fact, my whole life felt that way entirely. How did I go from being the top hockey player on campus with a promising professional career, to watching that same future dangle by a thin thread?I sighed bitterly into the empty room. I was finally back in my own dorm room after days in the campus hospital. My first official physical rehab session was scheduled to start in three days.Right now, the severe, throbbing pain in my lower spine depended entirely on heavy painkillers. The last round of pills I took had completely worn off. According to the doctor's strict medical orders, I had to wait another two long hours before I was allowed to take the next dose. The constant agony was killing me. It made me want to snap at anyone who came near me. A thick, overwhelming urge to smash everything in my room washed over my mind. I only stayed still on the mattres

Lori“Please pick up. I’m begging you,” I muttered under my breath. I paced back and forth across the small rug in my room, praying that Lucas would answer on the other end of the line.My heart skipped a painful beat when the ringing stopped and went straight to voicemail again. I clicked end and tried one more time. I tried to convince myself that maybe he had just stepped out to the bathroom and was away from his screen. But I knew Lucas well enough by now to know the truth. He always kept his phone within arm's reach. He was actively ignoring me.I dropped onto the edge of my mattress and huffed out a frustrated breath. Suddenly, my phone started ringing. Excitedly, a wide smile broke across my face, and I swiped the screen to answer without even bothering to look at the caller ID.“Lucas! Oh my goodness, I have been calling you for an hour. Why didn’t you pick up any sooner?”“Oh? So your dear boyfriend has already started ignoring your phone calls? Isn’t it a little too soon f

LucasFirst day of physical rehab was exactly the kind of pure torture I had been expecting. In fact, it was much worse than I ever imagined. The therapist told me he was going to take it easy on me for the initial session. But if what he was forcing me to do right now was the easy part, how much worse would the hard part be when we started lifting real weights?“I’m tired,” I announced flatly. I grabbed my white towel from the bench to wipe away the thick sweat that had trickled down my face and neck. My muscles were shaking from the simple movements.“We still have two more rounds to go, Mr. Miller,” the therapist said in a strict, matter-of-fact tone, not looking up from his stopwatch. “If we don't finish them, I won’t mark today as complete in your official progress calendar. Your coaches watch that calendar closely.”I stared down at the average height man, feeling a surge of annoyance. It pissed me off that my entire hock
