Lahat ng Kabanata ng Heiress Rebound, Back to My Billions: Kabanata 21 - Kabanata 30

AURORA“As long as you are willing to be with me.”The noisy restaurant thinned out, and the air felt hotter. I looked away, but I could feel the weight of his eyes following my every move.I looked back at him, swallowed, and licked my lips, my mind raging for the right words to say.“Ughh! You two lovebirds are making me feel like the third wheel,” Chloe spoke. I looked to her, but Alexander didn’t break his gaze on me.She had a sly smile on her face as she picked up her items on the table.“That is because you are the third wheel,” Alexander said without a care. She grunted and rolled her eyes. “Yeah, yeah. I am the third wheel.” She slung her bag over her shoulder and pressed her hands together in a prayer posture.“This third wheel would now take her leave. She hopes you both would stay together for the rest of your lives," she added before she walked away. She stopped midway and caught my eyes. She winked and mouthed, “Thank him tonight.” She whistled before she walked away, my

AURORA“What are you doing today?”I looked down at my lap and shook my head. The irony of the situation was kind of funny. I was barely back in the company, and I was getting fired by a low-level employee. It didn't make me feel good that Catherine didn't take my side either. Just a few words from Melody and Garrick, who were obviously in the wrong, were a saint.I raised my head and tried to force a simple smile.“I am a jobless woman…” I trailed off as I spun in the stool to the immaculate white couch staring at me. I tilted my head, a wicked plan forming in my mind.“I will stay at home and act jobless.”He stood up without a word and packed up the dishes.“I am not busy today; maybe we can go shopping,” he murmured gently as if he were afraid of upsetting me.His back was to me as he gripped the edge of the sink. I bit the inside of my cheeks. Why did a simple request to go shopping make me feel like he had just declared his love?“Shopping? I don't think we need…”“We have been l

AURORA“Ruin him?”He raised his brow, a teasing smile playing on his lips as if he could barely believe I would say something like that.I turned to him fully and nodded firmly. “Why? You think I can’t?”“I don’t know.” He scrunched his nose in a playful manner. “You just seem too delicate to ruin someone.”I knew he was playing, but yet some part of it stung, so I took a step forward and slammed my fist as hard as I could into his chest with a closed fist.He tried not to react, but I watched his face crinkle and the corner of his lips twitch.“I can hit harder,” I said in a low voice, like I was threatening him.“I guess little Aurora is all grown now.”Little Aurora? My mind skipped a beat. I had not heard that from him since I was a teenager. He had called me that, and the moment he went abroad to study, I stopped hearing it. In fact, I had forgotten all about that nickname. The expression on his face was enough for me to know he had not forgotten. Not for a second.I puffed my ch

AURORAI followed behind them.Melody and Catherine were walking together, hand in hand. If an outsider saw us, they’d think I was the adopted one. They sat side by side and forced me to sit opposite them. Even though the air in the room was tense, a carryover from the argument in the living room, Catherine still ordered that the meal be served.“You two need to learn to get along,” she said as a plate of well-done steak was placed in front of me.I raised my gaze to her, and she looked away, guilt eating her up even though she tried not to show it.“Melody has always tried to get closer to you… but you keep on building walls between you both.”I picked up the knife, the cold metal digging into my palm. Even though it was freezing cold, it paled in comparison to the woman's gaze.“You are right, Mother. It is my fault. It has always been my fault.”I sliced through the steak.I didn’t want to eat with them, but I had no choice. If I missed out on this, then I might not have the chance

AURORAI stepped down into the living room.Alexander was on the couch with a laptop on his lap. He typed so furiously, yet all I could stare at were his slender fingers over the keyboard.I pressed myself against the wall and stared at him work. His hair fell to cover half of his face, and his face was knit in a focused frown. He looked up as if he could feel my eyes on him staring. I looked away, almost stumbling on my feet that knotted.“Am I that handsome?” he asked, raising one brow as the frown melted into a full smirk.“Handsome?” I choked out, my brain refusing to process what he meant.“You have been staring for a full minute now.”I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. Now was the right time for me to leave and start a new life far away from here.My limbs froze. I bit into the side of my cheeks, trying to wake myself up. He had seen me walk in and allowed me to stay staring at him so long.I pushed my chest forward, refusing to lose the banter to him.“So what if I s
