Lyra’s POVPrince Luca and I were still dancing. The music continued softly around us, and for a few seconds, I tried to forget everything else happening around me. I could feel his hand resting around my waist while mine remained on his shoulder. His movements were calm and controlled, and strangely enough, I had stopped feeling nervous.I didn’t understand what was happening between us anymore. One moment, Luca was the cold and terrifying prince who could make everyone tremble with just one look. The next, he was standing here with me as though there was nowhere else he wanted to be.I looked up at him. His eyes were fixed on me. I quickly looked away.Maybe I was thinking too much. Maybe this dance meant nothing to him. After all, I was still his personal slave. That thought alone was enough to bring me back to reality. Before I could say anything, a familiar voice came from behind us.“Oh.”I immediately knew who it was. “Wendy”.I turned slightly and saw her walking toward us. S

Lyra’s POVI looked at my cousin for a few seconds after everything she had told me. There were still so many questions running through my mind, but I knew this wasn’t the right place to ask her everything. The guards were waiting, and I didn’t want to make things more difficult for her.I reached for her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “It’s okay. You can go now.”She looked at me with a little disappointment in her eyes. “I really wanted to stay more with you.”“I know.” I smiled at her. “But you shouldn’t get yourself into trouble because of me.”She nodded slowly. Before she turned away, I remembered something. “Wait.”She looked back.“Please greet my favorite uncle for me.”A smile appeared on her face. “I will.”“And tell him that once the session is over, I may ask him to come here.” I paused before adding, “I might even beg him to let me host him here myself.”Her eyes brightened. “I’ll tell him.”“Good.” I said to her.She gave me one last smile before the guards began le

Prince Luca’s POV Today was supposed to determine everything. For months, questions had followed me everywhere I went, trailing behind me through council meetings and quiet corridors alike. Wendy was supposed to be my betrothed, but the truth had already come out. The prophecy had been manipulated, and the person everyone had believed was meant for me might not be the one the Moon Goddess had actually chosen. Today could change everything. I stood quietly among the crowd, watching everyone gather as I battled with my thoughts, the noise around me fading into something distant and unimportant. Vani. My wolf stirred inside me. You already know who she is. I clenched my jaw. “Don’t start.” Lyra is the one. I looked toward the gathering ground. Lyra. Even thinking about her name made something inside me change. I had been trying to understand it for so long. Why did I become angry whenever another man came close to her? Why did seeing Rowan touch her make my blood boil? Why did

Lyra’s POVFor several seconds, I couldn’t move. I stared at Prince Luca, completely frozen, while the silence around us seemed to grow heavier, pressing down on the entire gathering ground like a storm cloud waiting to break. No one dared to whisper. No one dared to move. Every eye that had been watching the earlier fight now watched me instead, waiting to see what would happen next.My hand was still raised slightly. My heart was pounding so hard that I could hear it inside my ears, drowning out even the distant murmur of the crowd.Did I really just slap the Crown Prince?I looked at my palm in disbelief. I couldn’t believe what I had done. I had acted without thinking. It had been a reflex, born from anger and humiliation I hadn’t been able to hold back any longer. But it had happened, and there was no undoing it now.Luca slowly turned his face back toward me. His expression was impossible to read. He didn’t shout. He didn’t immediately punish me, which somehow frightened me mor

Lyra’s POVThe moment Prince Luca left, the tears I had been holding back finally fell freely.I sat there for a while, staring at the empty space in front of me as everything he had said replayed in my head. His words hurt. More than I wanted to admit.I wiped my cheeks, but more tears replaced the ones I had removed. How could someone claim to care about me and still speak to me like that? How could he say he wanted to make me his fated mate one moment and call me a slut the next?I hated how confusing he was. I hated how he could make me angry and still somehow make my heart beat faster. But most of all, I hated the way he acted as though he owned me.I hugged my knees and sniffed. “I would rather have Rowan as my fated mate than Prince Luca.”The words came out quietly. At least Rowan didn’t constantly remind me that I belonged to him. Luca was too possessive. Too bossy. He acted as though everyone around him belonged to him. He didn’t even deserve to be called a prince sometimes
