Harvey's Pov Gigi was lying on her side on the cold kitchen tiles, completely motionless. Her clothes were torn, and a pool of red blood was spreading rapidly beneath her body. Blood soaked through the front of her shirt near her stomach and also trailed down the inside of her thighs, pooling around her bare feet. Her face was deathly pale, her eyes closed, her dark eyelashes resting against her hollow cheeks. She wasn't moving, she wasn't making a sound and she was so cold. "Gigi! Oh my gosh, Gigi, please!" I dropped to my knees beside her, my hands hovering over her trembling body, afraid that touching her might make it worse. I pulled her head into my lap, my tears dripping onto her bloody cheek. "Wake up! Please wake up! Gigi!" I pressed my trembling fingers against the side of her neck, desperately searching for a pulse. For a terrifying two seconds, I felt nothing. Then, a faint, erratic flutter thudded against my fingertips. She was alive, but barely. "Hold on,

Harvey's Pov BANG! He slammed his fists against my head a second time, and it was hard enough to rattle my brain inside my skull. Blood trickled down from my forehead from the cut from his finger nails, but my jaws remained locked tight. I was willing to tear his lip completely off his face for what he was about to do. "GET OFF ME!" Stefan screamed in pure agony, raising his fist and driving it down into the temple on the left side of my head again. BANG! The third blow broke my grip. Pain spiked through my skull, making my vision spin in circles crazily. My jaw went numb, releasing his lip as I stumbled backward onto the hard tiles. Gigi's head slipped from my lap, resting on the cold floor beside me. I lay on my side, gasping for air. My head felt like it had been hit repeatedly by a heavy truck. Everything in the room was a blur of spinning shapes and muffled sounds. "You fucking monster!" Stefan roared, clutching his mouth. Blood was gushing down his chin and

Harvey's Pov Officer Harrison gave a nod, flipping to a new page in his notebook. “She passed away a few days ago, in her home,” he explained steadily, keeping his eyes fixed on my face. “According to several witness statements from neighbors, an unidentified woman went to see her at her apartment shortly before she died and she had also been bleeding those past few days. Now, I am well aware you have been lying in this hospital bed unconscious for the past five days, Miss Harvey, so I am not accusing you of being the murderer. However, given your relationship with Miss Olivia and your husband Derek, standard protocol dictates that we question everyone who had recent contact with her.” I stared at him in complete disbelief, my brain whirling as I tried to make sense of the news. Olivia was dead? Just like that? The same woman who had strutted into my life, smug and pregnant with what she claimed was Derek’s child, was suddenly gone? “I didn’t go anywhere near her,” I stammered,

Earl's Pov The name immediately made my expression darken. “What does Derek have to do with this?” I asked. “According to the information I got from the police, they believe that Harvey had been trying to get away from Derek before everything happened, and they consider him a prime suspect in the case. They have not been able to locate him since,” Mark said. “It is almost as if he disappeared.” I stared through the windshield, and anger slowly replaced the fear that had been sitting in my chest since his first call. “Find out everything you can about his whereabouts,” I said. “I want his last known location, his phone records, his financial activity, every vehicle connected to him, and anyone he has contacted recently.” Mark was silent for a moment before replying, “I will speak to our people and see what we can find.” “Do it,” I said before ending the call. When I entered the hospital, I immediately approached the reception desk and asked for Harvey. The nurse behind the desk l

Earl's Pov I gave Harrison a small nod and stepped away before he could start another lecture about leaving everything to the police. I knew he meant well, and under normal circumstances, I probably would've listened to him, but this wasn't normal, not after seeing Harvey lying in that hospital bed. I couldn't get the image of her out of my head, especially that bandage around her head and all those machines keeping track of her condition. She had almost died, and the man who might have had something to do with it was still somewhere out there, possibly with someone helping him stay hidden. There was no way I was going to walk away from that and simply trust that everything would work itself out. The moment I stepped outside, the cool evening air hit my face, but it did nothing to cool the anger burning inside me. I stopped beside my car and looked back at the hospital. For some reason, knowing she was inside that building made it even harder to leave, because I couldn't sh
