Nyra woke with a headache. The first thing she noticed was the smell. Damp earth, old wood, and something metallic underneath it. It was blood. She opened her eyes. Darkness was the first thing she saw. Her hands were tied to a wooden chair, her ankles bound as well. She tried to pull against the ropes, testing their strength, twice. They are too tight. Her heart was pounding, but she took a deep breath. Panic would not help her. She looked around the room, her bindings digging into her wrists.
