All Chapters of Rejected by my Mate, Claimed by His Rival: Chapter 1 - Chapter 10

“I, Alpha Ryker, reject you, Nyra Vale, as my soulmate." The rumbles of destruction never came. This was the unwinding of a great monster. A thread by thread destruction. Reality became blurry and everything became quiet. The air was slowly disappearing, and for a moment it seemed like the room was entangled in this time-stopping silence. The world returned, but not the same. A sleeve brushed against the chair. Or maybe it was the chair rubbing against its leg. A hesitant hand was out. Like the release of a brake, it began. Rapid, but quiet. Nyra remained still, the world moving around her. She wished the ceiling wasn't so bright. She wished everything wasn't on the light, but instead focused on her. She felt like she was put on display. In the dimmed lights, the judging eyes began to haunt her. The lights touched her the most, giving no room for escape, for avoidance. The world was a blurred mass of moving faces, glances, a

Nyra found it hard to believe what was going on. With a weight upon her back, she felt as if she was jogging across sand; the days and hours were flying by ever more quickly. She had to decide something. She couldn't keep procrastinating it. Her mind kept bringing back the image of Kael in all his towering, self-assured height, standing confidently and declaring himself to her as something which he obviously was – the center of power and control in any room he entered. She also couldn't get out of her head the offer he had given her. At night, she spent hours gazing out her window. The far-off city's lights were vibrant and strong. The air in her tiny apartment made her feel suffocated. She was still undecided on whether she should take Kael's offer. Nyra understood he would not wait for too long for her to decide, even if he was not pushing her for an response. If she didn't say yes quickly, the door to

Nyra moved around her tiny apartment, the silence crushing down on her with the same oppressive weight she had experienced while Ryker was there. Her mind continued to hear his words, always reminding her that the road she was on was not as pure or easy as it first looked. "Should he shut you out, don't come crawling back to the pack house." Long after Ryker departed, the words had haunted her, hanging in the air like smoke. She could still sense his warmth, the way his rage had seeped into the space and threatened to burn everything in its path. She was through with him, nevertheless. Completed with the pack. Through with serving another person's game. She had made up her mind. She simply questioned whether it was the correct one. A quiet knock at the door broke her thinking. Before she even had time to process it, her heart skipped in her chest. Before she even opened the door, she knew who it was.

Nyra read the message once more. 'Ask Kael what happened to your father.' She didn't blink. For two years, she had thought she knew exactly what had happened for two. Her father had died in a car accident on his way home from a council meeting. The investigation had been closed within weeks. Ryker had attended the funeral. He had stood beside her while she cried until she couldn't feel anything anymore. Nobody had ever had cause to doubt it. Until now. Nyra gently put her phone down."Who sent it?" Kael was already looking at her. She had not heard him come back. His gaze was on her face, not the phone."Someone who knows my father." Kael's expression didn't change. But there was something in his silence that did and Nyra noticed."Do you know what happened to him?""Yes." The response came to quickly. Her stomach tightened."You knew him?"I knew of him.""That's not what I asked."

Nyra was unable to move. The woman's words had hit more strongly than the threats."Your father sends his regards." Two years her father had passed away. What she had just heard made no sense at all. Kael stepped in between them. "Who are you?" The woman ignored him. She kept her focus on Nyra. For some reason, that was much worse. Nyra forced herself forward."What did you say?" The woman smiled."I said your father sends his regards.""He's dead.""Is he?" The question settled over the corridor. Nyra's throat tightened."Take off the hood," Kael sa, his voice much colder. The woman chuckled quietly."You haven't changed, Kael." He went still. Nyra noticed. He knew her."You know her," Nyra said. Kael kept silent. At last the woman took off her hood. She was probably in her early forties, having dark hair that she pulled into a neat knot. She had a thin scar near her left eye
