I knew I had to speak to Bailey about what happened. This was so big that I couldn’t just let Ashley handle it. Bailey could’ve killed Jasper or maimed him for life. He didn’t have his healing yet and I was concerned about the type of child Bailey was. Even though he’d cried earlier, it had been to get out of trouble, not because he had any real remorse for what he’d done. I felt helpless as I sat in my office, not able to concentrate on work. I had to figure out what was going on with him, before he killed someone.“Bailey, why did you stab Jasper?” I asked him as I sat down on his bed.“He didn’t want to give me the bear,” he said.“So you stabbed him?” I asked.“I told him I’m his Alpha and he didn’t want to listen to me,” he said.“You’re not his Alpha, Bailey, you’re a kid,” I said to him.“Mommy says people need to do what I say because I’ll be the Alpha one day and if I’m soft with people they won’t listen to me,” he said.“That’s not how it works when you’re an Alpha, little

We headed inside the castle and the grip on my emotions was fragile. I felt empty inside, the last eighteen months of my life had been a lie and I was blind enough to allow it all. I hadn’t noticed it because I hadn’t been paying attention. If it involved Ashley, I stayed away and she’d almost destroyed my pack.“I assume you have proof,” Jericho said as we sat down in his office. He was worried about something but I couldn’t read the expression on his face.Levi produced the folder and handed it to Jericho. He took his time in reading through the transcripts of text messages, the photos and everything else Vanessa had gathered. Levi poured Scotch for the three of us and I emptied the glass in one swallow.I was hurt. The things I’d read and seen in that file had gutted me. The fact that Bailey had said I wasn’t his father had hurt more. I didn’t understand it. The imprinting bond was there and I’d accepted the fact that he had no Alpha aura because I hadn’t had one when Ashley had go

Lyric shook her head as she looked at me and for a moment I felt sad that things hadn’t worked out between us. She deserved better though and I knew I had too many feelings for her and for Lacey. It was another thing I had to sort out, possibly being the first man in my family to be rejected by his mate.“Your pack loves you and respects you. They won’t throw you to the wolves,” she said as I grinned.“It’s not the pack I’m worried about,” I said to her.“You found your mate,” she whispered as the truth dawned on her.“I’m sorry I hurt you, Lyric,” I said in answer to that. It was something I really did regret. Lyric was a special woman, a good person and I hated the way I’d treated her.“We hurt each other, you don’t owe me an apology,” she said.A few more cars arrived and music started up from somewhere. I saw Denver hugging another man and I could see the resemblance. This was the younger brother he spoke about so much, the lone wolf, who was in the army.Denver suddenly looked at

Lacey was straightforward and the questions she asked were direct. I liked it. I liked everything about her, but I was also scared of being used again. The fact that Lacey didn’t want to rush into anything made it easier for me to accept.I thought about her question for a few seconds. Could she really be tough enough to withstand the looks, the whispers and the rumors about me? Every Head Alpha of the world would know my past and what I’d done. I wasn’t sure I was strong enough to withstand it.“Would you really want to accompany me to Ecuador, meet my family under these circumstances and sit through all that?” I asked her.“I’d say it’s probably the best time. If we can’t handle the tribunal together then this relationship won’t go far,” she said. Gray’s tail started wagging and I almost chuckled.“That’s true, I just didn’t want to put you in that position,” I said.“Thank you for that but I’m a big girl. Ecuador sounds fun and I have to meet your family eventually,” she said.“I l

“Lacey looks quite upset,” Saga remarked.“Didn’t expect anything else, she’s mated to someone that should never have been Alpha, was addicted to drugs and then hit his girlfriend. Would you be happy?” I asked her.“That’s not who you are,” she said.“It’s who I was,” I said as I looked at Lacey again.“Don’t mess this up, Christian. You’re not the only one in this family that’s made mistakes,” she said and walked towards William as he smiled at her.“Was this your first tribunal, Lacey?” Jericho asked her once we were all seated and our plates had been filled.“Yes, and if I may speak frankly since you have protocols and I’m not sure what they are, but this whole thing was bullshit,” she said as Kai looked up and smiled at her.“How so?” Kai asked her.“Well, none of us are perfect and I for one wouldn’t want the whole world to know of every little thing I did wrong in my past. You should’ve just chopped her head off or something. What she did goes beyond the norms of revenge,” she s
