Chapter 1

Aron looked dapper in his black tuxedo, but his handsome, nonchalant smile faded at my words. His friends' smile stiffened, and they promptly reasoned with me."Come on, Lydia—you know Penny's always been a practical joker.""It's just an AI video. It's fake, and a bet's a bet. I mean, it's just three days! It's no big deal!"Hearing that, Aron pursed his lips as he said sternly, "That's enough now, Lydia. Or did you forget that the video of our wedding will be shown to your mom? Her surgery is due in three days. Do you perhaps want her to look disappointed before she goes into the operating room?"My eyes were red even as I looked at Aron.Just before the wedding, he vowed to show my mom the moment when we were the happiest. But now…Holding his gaze, I asked, "So I should continue and then show that AI video to my mom as well? You'd really call a video like that a prank?"Aron's expression stiffened, but he soon narrowed his eyes threateningly. "I said, that's enough! You pl

Chapter 2

Penny laughed coolly even before Aron could speak. "It's just a video, Lydia. Do you really have to go that far?"Aron kept quiet, but I could see the agreement on his face. However, I didn't stop, and Penny held my bouquet high in the air as she said loudly, "Well, Aron… since a certain someone is intent on emotional blackmail, I want you to honor our bet early for safety's sake. That means I'm taking over this wedding, my dear husband."With those words, she raised her hand to Aron, gesturing for him to put the ring on her finger instead.Aron leered at me haughtily in turn and snorted. "You better be sure about this, Lydia. Once I put this ring on Penny's finger, there's no turning back. So be mature for once—apologize to everyone, and we can still carry on."I didn't even look back as I left without hesitation.Just before the door shut, Penny was laughing again. "Oh, Aron—your gal sure is petty, running away from her wedding because of a prank! I guess I have to make it up t

Chapter 3

A month ago, Penny had gone to my mother's ward with the excuse of visiting and showed her a photo of herself making love with Aron.It upset my mom so much that she passed out, and Penny left without even buzzing the nurse. If I hadn't returned in time, my mother really would have died.Aron was furious after learning what Penny did and left to punish her even though I tried to stop him.He left for the whole night. The sun was up by the time he returned to the hospital, his clothes ragged as he told me, "Don't worry, Lydia. I punished her so badly that she'll never try to pull something like this again. If she does, it will mean her death!"I had teared up in gratitude at the time, but as it turned out, they were just making love while my mother suffered.I laughed through my tears even as Penny sent more photos, including the mess that was my bed, and Aron who was sound asleep.[Aron was so upset I almost killed your mom that he punished me seven times that night. Call it st

Chapter 4

Hanging up, I was left clutching my chest as I panted heavily. However, I didn't waste a second and arrived at the bedroom in just ten minutes. There were wedding photos of me and Aron hung around the room, but now, every half of the photo of me was ripped off and dumped in the bin.I stayed silent however, watching as Penny sat on the bed, her legs dangling in the air. There were hickeys all over her body, and the air was thick with the scent of hormones. But I didn't care, and my eyes were fixed on Aron. "I'm here. Can you send the specialist now?"Aron frowned. "I told you—apologize to my wife. Why would I send the specialist for you? We're not related in any way."Not related in any way—that was all he thought of our seven-year relationship.I pursed my lips but turned to Penny. "I'm sorry."I had no idea what I had done to her, but I had to submit.Aron then sighed. "Penny had to clean up the mess you made, but you'd still insult her? Shouldn't you be thanking her too an

Chapter 5

Aron froze, clearly not understanding what I had just said.He then turned to look at the corpse under the white cloth, blinking once. His face was soon pale, but he forced a smile and tried to ignore the grim vibe in the room."This is a prank, right?" he asked. "There was a slight delay. There's no way your mom would die because of that."My heart was hollow even as I looked at him, having lost all sensation the instant I saw Molly's body. "Aren't you pleased with yourself? You refused to let the doctors operate on her just because you wanted me to apologize to Penny, and now, my mother is dead. You knew this would happen, didn't you?"I wanted to hurt him as much as I could, but I also knew that this was all my fault. If only I'd never met Aron Quaker and gotten in a relationship with him, then Penny wouldn't have gone after Molly. With her illness, Molly succumbed to the repeated traumatic shock—first the photos, and then the videos.I should never have agreed to marry Aron

Chapter 6

Aron was stunned—I had never glared at him this resentfully, ever.Even when we quarreled, there was love in my eyes. And despite the outrage that was our ruined wedding, I had only looked at him in disappointment. He had always believed that he could rule over me, and by making me back off, we wouldn't have to keep arguing over Penny and other little things. He just didn't think that a little delay really killed my body. But even after everything that had happened, he still allowed Penny to screw with me.He thought he wouldn't stop me from unleashing my wrath on Penny but caved as soon as he saw Penny's tears.Even then, he was stunned that a little interference had led to me slapping him. However, I had no idea what he was thinking, and I laughed icily as I watched him protect Penny like always.Pointing down the hallway, I growled. "Leave. Don't make me say it a third time."Aron was very stiff and couldn't say a word.He was going to apologize, but Penny added fuel to t

Chapter 7

Aron didn't follow me, but he kept in mind what I'd just said.Turning toward Penny, he asked quietly, "You never showed Lydia's mother that AI video, did you?"Despite that calm tone, his gaze was darker than black.Penny stiffened, but she eventually braced herself and replied, "You know me, Aron. I wouldn't do something like that—I'm a joker, but I wouldn't go that far."Aron didn't press the issue, but he noticed her stiffening. In the past, he would be convinced Penny wouldn't do it—all his friends knew about Molly's illness. And no matter how mischievous Penny was, she wouldn't joke around with a person's life. But now, he finally remembered that Penny had done just that a month ago.The photo of them together was taken for a laugh, but she had printed it and had shown it to Molly, causing a heart attack and sending Molly into critical condition.Aron was intent on punishing Penny, only to enter her apartment and see her wearing nothing but a bathrobe. She always was 'o

Chapter 8

As Aron watched me leave, he was intent to follow when his phone rang again. Sighing, he answered it."Sir, we've got it. We've sent you security footage at the hospital as well, but we've caught someone sending Molly Tucker a video of the wedding, including the AI video Ms. Lynd made. It was why Molly Tucker collapsed."Aron's face turned utterly pale when he realized I had been telling the truth the whole time. His fingers trembling, he tapped into the security footage to see it focusing on a man he didn't recognize who delivered the video to Molly.Still, photos were soon sent to him, showing that Penny had met the men earlier! There was naturally more evidence, including Penny stopping the specialist from operating on Molly by name-dropping Aron himself, denying Molly any chance of survival.Aron dropped his phone audibly after seeing all the evidence.Penny had always pretended to be so bold but innocent around him, only to do something so evil behind his back!It was on

Chapter 9

I was stunned to see Aron there—he looked ragged, his eyes were reddened, and he had clearly lost weight.Still, I soon frowned and turned to leave, but he strode up, grabbing my hand in an instant. "Wait! Just listen to me, Lydia!"I tried to shake him off, but Aron tightened his grip, his eyes so red they could bleed the next second."I made a mistake," he said. "I know that now, after I investigated everything. I didn't think that everything you said was the truth, that Penny actually sent her AI video and photo to your mother—"I held up a palm, cutting him off. "You didn't have to come here if that's all you wanted to say. Because I don't want to hear a word of it."Before I came back, I was ready to take Penny to court—it didn't matter to me if Aron was still in the dark or still dead set on protecting Penny. In the case of the latter, it was just one more obstacle I had to clear. If push came to shove, I was aware of certain dirty secrets Quaker Group kept from the public

Chapter 10

Aron froze, his eyes virtually begging me to stop, but I didn't. "If you didn't tolerate her so-called pranks or stupid bets, she wouldn't have the audacity to prompt that AI video, even playing it at our wedding. "If you cared about our wedding, you wouldn't have let your friends and Penny cause a mess."If you really cared about me, you wouldn't have let Penny replace me in any way or fueled her ambition."Hell, you saw it—even after she stole the wedding, she was hell-bent on stopping us from ever reconciling."Aron could only shake his head tearfully and beg, "No… Stop… Just stop…" I didn't care if he was hurting, however, and hammered the final nail in the coffin. "Even if Penny directly murdered my mother, you're still an accomplice. All because you tolerate Penny's behavior, ignore common sense, and always try to make me feel small. That's why we're never getting back together."And with those words, I turned, leaving him so deflated that he couldn't even bring himself t
