"When did I ever target your so-called family? Moreover, why should I tolerate nonsense? What do you take me for?" Sage snapped at Canton. Amber gasped from beside him. In front of her, Canton was always mighty, strong, and almost undefeated. He survived as a rogue for years before Alpha Dale found him. His years of rogue life taught him to be tough. If he was not, he would have been long ago. Without the pack's protection, it's the survival of the fittest out in the wild. So he had to adapt quickly. And he did. He didn't just adapt; barely any other Alpha in the Lycan kingdom can defeat him except for the king and the queen. So no one has ever dared to insult him so openly. He earned his reputation, and that's what makes the wolves swoon at him. And that's also the reason why the Lycan King and Queen thought he might be a good mate to accompany their daughter. Now, when Amber saw Canton being chewed out alive by just some delicate princess who didn't even have a wolf of her own,

After leaving the Dragon council, Kael barely spoke a word. Instead of going back to the Black Manor, he drove them to the Black Towers. "You are going to work now?" Sage asked, confused. It's already well past 11 at night, and it's not wise to work, especially with the mood he is in now. "No, I just don't want to go back to the Black Manor," he replied. He sounded strained and withdrawn. Sage doesn't remember him being like this before. She followed him into the elevators. "You shouldn't have spoken with Uncle Alexander like that," she murmured. Kael was never impulsive. He usually never loses his composure like this. But today his ire was unexpected. They reached the top floor where his cabin is. He walked out first, his shoulders stiff and his whole frame rigid with tension. He entered his cabin and went directly to his ensuite. There is a small bar area where a full rack held alcohol bottles. His bed is sitting in the middle of the ensuite. "What do you think I should

In Westmore, Dr. Steven is seen examining a picture of Blethe, who is now dead. He looked Satisfied. "You did great. Kael Black won't understand why he is being targeted like this. Everyone he cares about, they will all die until he is left alone. So what if that Lycan Princess can save him again and again? She couldn't shield him from the trap I set for him. Killing Blethe is just the beginning. This would set my plan into motion. Just like I guessed, those old fools managed to pull Kael black into the middle of the vortex of my plan. Now, he would start investing. And I will be waiting for him to come and die," Steven said, sounding proud of his plan. A dragon who was in his late twenties was listening to his 'Uncle' with a smug smile. This dragon looked polished and arrogant. His features strangely looked a lot like Alexander Black. The king of the dragons. "Uncle, I am the real heir of the dragons. The heir to that dragon throne. Kael is just keeping that position warm for me

"I can help," she offered. She doesn't want to get tangled up with the dragon affairs. Once you are in, you are always in. They will never stop asking. But she doesn't want to leave Kael alone to deal with all this. He just lost a friend, and the other one is in the dungeons for a crime he didn't commit. "No, don't get tangled up in all of this. In just a matter of months, you will be free. I don't want to drag you into this mess again," he refused without hesitation. Sage couldn't tell if she was relieved or feeling something else. But she still left him to deal with his own issues. For some reason, she felt reluctant to leave like this. 'Damn it, you are a witch. Since when did you develop a conscience? This mess is not yours. Keeping Vanessa safe until she is completely cured is what you should focus on. After that, no matter what happened, it's no longer your concern' she told herself. ...... In the Black Manor, Ashley Sinclair, Vanessa's elder sister, came to visit the d

After two days, in the Black manor, Sage was pushing her breakfast around the plate. She is not actually eating. The usual calm of the manor now felt tense. It had been two days since she saw Kael. He didn't go back to the Black manor. He didn't even contacted her. That's a first. He had never stayed this long without seeing her before. The cracks in the Black family seems to be surfacing. She couldn't explain the dull ache in her chest. 'Damn it,' she thought to herself, rubbing at her chest. She thought witches don't have feelings. But that seems to be wrong. She doesn't want to get involved with the dragon politics. But when Kael is in trouble, sitting still without helping him turned out to be harder than she imagined. She abandoned her breakfast and decided to go find out exactly how Blethe Adams died. "Sis, wait for me" Luis rushed after her. He came back the other night. "Where are you going?" he inquired biting into a piece of toast which he picked up while coming.
