Tears fell one by one, soaking the earth.Dirt and grass packed under my fingernails.Sobbing, I clawed desperately through the grass.Where had the ring landed?Nina barked once toward a spot, and when I looked up, the ring was right there, not far away.I snatched it up and slid it onto my finger.
