Semua Bab If There's a Next Life, I'll Let Go: Bab 1 - Bab 9

In that instant, a wave of cheers broke out as people began moving around me, the noise gradually growing louder. I snapped back to my senses after hearing their voices. As I looked around, I was stunned all over again. I had actually returned to the exact day I proposed to Matilda Sutton ten years ago!Matilda wasn't well-known at the time, being nothing more than an obscure singer. I had proposed to her at this event, which was just a small, private gig she invited only her close friends to. I was caught off guard as I looked at her young and beautiful face on stage, unable to pull myself together for a moment. It was then that a friend of mine, whose name I couldn't even remember, nudged me and shoved a huge bouquet into my hands. "What are you waiting for, Tyler? You're up next! Go on!"In the meantime, the atmosphere around the stage had reached its peak, with fireworks erupting across the sky at just the right moment. In the middle of that picture-perfect scene, I walked

Mom smacked Dad's arm with an annoyed huff. "You've been using that same old fireworks display for a few decades now! Do you really think young people nowadays enjoy these sorts of things?"I was overjoyed when I saw Mom and Dad looking so young. I pulled them both into a hug and exclaimed, "I'm back, Mom and Dad! I missed you guys so much!"My parents were both taken aback by how I was acting, but then they broke into smiles. Mom patted me on the back, looking just as thrilled. "What's gotten into you? How come you're acting so clingy after proposing to someone? Did it work out, Tyler?"I felt strangely put on the spot, given that I hadn't proposed to Matilda at all. I was just genuinely happy to see them. "You've got it all wrong. I'm not—"I was just about to set things straight when Dad suddenly cut me off. "You don't have to explain anything to us, Tyler. I completely get it!"They both acted like they knew exactly what was going on and acted all secretive about it, which l

I furrowed my brow as I tried to remember the last time I had spent excessively on Matilda. I finally recalled that it was six months ago, when I dropped a ton of money to pull off that birthday surprise for her.Ryan had apparently interpreted that as me humiliating her with money. It was no wonder Matilda had become colder toward me after we got married. If she had been listening to Ryan stir things up between us all the time in my past life, of course she'd grow distant."Tyler has never used his money to humiliate me! I have no idea what you're talking about, Ryan!" Matilda's expression turned cold as she slowly stood up. As Ryan stared at her in shock, she continued, "I can decide for myself whether I was being insulted or not, so please don't ever talk about Tyler like that again!""W-What's that supposed to mean, Matilda?" Ryan took a couple of steps back, utterly confused by Matilda's sudden change.Matilda took a deep breath and glanced at me before speaking. "I know Tyl

I widened my eyes in surprise, finding it hard to believe that Matilda had actually chosen me over her own fans. That wasn't even the most shocking part, though.I opened her official social media account and saw a post she put up just two minutes ago, announcing that she was retiring from the entertainment industry.I was shaken to my core, becoming increasingly uncertain about Matilda's true stance toward me. I found it utterly absurd. I knew better than anyone else just how much Matilda cared about her career and fans. After all, I had spent ten years in my past life watching her work her way up in the entertainment industry. How could Matilda just walk away from it?I couldn't get hold of her, so for the time being, I had no choice but to keep my questions to myself.Matilda unexpectedly showed up at my house again during dinnertime. Mom and Dad had noticed that we had a falling-out, so they invited her over to fix things between us.I merely smiled, finding it funny. Ther

After I heard Mom's recount, I was unable to recover for quite some time, finding the situation entirely unbelievable.Upon seeing how stunned I was, Mom and Dad made up an excuse to go grab me some supplements, leaving the two of us in the room.Just then, Matilda woke up too. She slowly turned her head toward me, and the moment our eyes met, she let out a faint, relieved smile. "You're finally awake. Thank goodness."I felt my eyes sting after hearing that and quickly held back the tears. I sounded slightly guilty as I spoke. "Why would you do this for me? If you're only doing this because you want to repay me for giving you the parachute before, then…"I wanted to tell her that we'd be even now.Matilda understood what I was getting at and shook her head slightly. "I only heard that you'd gone into shock from losing too much blood. I didn't really put too much thought into it. I guess it's because I really do like you…"I fell silent for quite some time before asking, "Why
