Chapter 1

The proctor questioned me sternly, "What's that under your desk, 1023?" They picked up the smart earphone from the ground and put it against his ear. His face fell."Why do I hear answers?"Yvonne Wilson, my sister, was seated right behind me. She looked up and blurted tremulously, "I-I told you not to bring that cheating earphone, Emilia. Why would you…"She trailed off, but everyone in the hall knew what she meant. Naturally, they all looked at me with disdain."You're cheating on an important test like this? Stand up! You're coming with me!"That was when I realized I had been reborn. Nevertheless, I didn't miss that flash of smug victory glinting in Yvonne's eyes.I took a deep breath and defended myself, saying, "I didn't cheat. That's not mine.""You're denying it after all this? Have you no shame?""Get out of the hall, you cheater! We're the real innocent ones here, and we have a test to finish!"…The other candidates started complaining. The proctor called their col

Yvonne became flabbergasted. After all, this wasn't going the way she had planned. She wasn't expecting such a swift retaliation on my part, so she quickly pulled out her best ploy by playing the victim. Sure enough, she started crying."I didn't! I was just worried. Maybe I was seeing things.""Maybe you were seeing things?" I sneered and turned to the proctor. "Hear that? The thing you called solid evidence is nothing but a girl's possible hallucination!"I emphasized the last part of the sentence and snarked, "I wonder if the cops would even take that statement seriously, much less use it as evidence."The proctor didn't look happy at all. He frowned. "We'll verify her statement, but that doesn't mean you're off the hook. You need to come with me right now.""I'm accused of cheating on a test. I'm the victim here. Why should I go with you?" I refused to back off as I glared at the proctor. "You accused me of cheating without going through due process at all! I have no confidenc

Chapter 3

I looked at the headmaster. "Isn't that right, sir?"He frowned but ultimately nodded in agreement at my decision. "The school's reputation is at risk here. That is the best way to move forward."I noticed the proctor and Yvonne going white. Regardless, the teacher stationed at the other end of the alarm moved fast. It also helped that there were always cops patrolling the area.Shortly after, I could hear sirens already blaring in the distance. Yvonne turned three shades whiter, and she started shivering. "You're evil, Emilia…"Me? Evil? This bitch used my death as a stepping stone in my previous life. She became a freshman at a top university. She became a so-called honest influencer with a million fans. She was the one who was pure evil here. All I wanted was to fight for my rights and prove my innocence. That was far from evil. This harpy was absurd."Evil?" I scoffed. "Maybe the cops will prove who the evil one is.""You bitch!" The mention of cops apparently struck a nerve

Chapter 4

"God, I can't watch this!""She's going to risk her own life just to make her sister face her conscience!""Emilia's a monster! She's still not confessing her crimes! What's she waiting for, her sister to jump?"The students were all moved by Yvonne's actions, while they looked at me with disgust. An agitated Yves wanted to run to her, but a teacher pulled him back. So, he quickly dissuaded her, shouting, "You're being too kind to her, Yvonne! If she wants to ruin herself, let her! You don't have to sacrifice yourself!"Alas, Yvonne was just getting into character. So, she merely put on a broken, beautiful smile as tears rolled down her cheeks. "You don't get it, Yves. She's my sister! I've been tasked to protect her ever since she was born. I can't watch her stray from the straight path!"The proctor who was adamant that I cheated stepped forth and glared at me sternly. "Confess that you cheated, and I'll ask the school to only void one subject's result, if only for your sister'

Chapter 5

Everyone screamed at the top of their lungs, but I wasn't going to step back. Yvonne's face was twisted with shock, and I closed my eyes. The pain didn't come. Instead, Yvonne and I both hit the landing outside the balcony."Thank God for the landing. Otherwise, we'd have two dead students!""I can't believe Emilia would go that far! She actually jumped off the building!""Maybe she did it because she had no other choice?"…The students kept talking among themselves. When they looked at me again, the disgust in their eyes was mostly gone. Instead, it was replaced by pity.Yvonne fell right beside me. She was shivering in fright, her face was white, and her voice was shaking. "You're insane, Emilia. You actually tried to take me down with you.""Hey, you wanted to prove your innocence with death. I was only trying to be helpful." I stood up and looked at her calmly. "If anything, you should be thanking me."It was thanks to Yvonne that I knew this landing existed. In my previo

Chapter 6

I observed the proctor and Yvonne with a gimlet eye. I had a feeling that there was something fishy going on here. These two were cooperating far too well… It was as if they had planned this. Perhaps my death wasn't as simple as it looked. Perhaps Yvonne wasn't the only culprit. Now that the earphone was gone, the investigation came to a grinding halt. The cops asked more questions and promised us they'd come back with answers as fast as possible. Eventually, Yvonne and I were sent home.On my way back, I kept analyzing the reason for Yvonne accusing me and the things she got in my past life to figure out what I was missing.Oh, right. Her acceptance letter. With her abysmal grades, the best she could do was get into a second-rate college, and that was me taking into account that she'd performed better than usual. Yet, she was accepted by my dream university in my previous life, Northton U.I couldn't help but wonder how she had gotten a guaranteed spot. Questions were swirling i

Chapter 7

I swiftly connected the dots and asked Maya to talk about my guaranteed spot in Northton U with the relevant individuals. Then, I ran straight back home. The first thing that hit my senses was the shrill voice of Yvonne complaining to my parents. "What am I supposed to do now? She's insistent that I framed her for cheating! She wants to slam me behind bars!""I'll skin her when she comes back!" My mother's voice was filled with fury.My father was calmer. "It's alright, Yvonne. I've smoothed it out with the proctor. The blame won't fall on you."I clenched my fists. Now, I understood why that proctor was hostile toward me and the reason why the school didn't launch any investigations before swiftly judging that I'd cheated in my previous life. My parents had bribed them all just to give my spot to Yvonne."I didn't finish my paper thanks to her. If I can't get her spot, I can never get into any college." Yvonne kept crying and sobbing, trying to use her trump card to get what she

Chapter 8

My father didn't become a top executive for no reason. So, he definitely got me there. It didn't take long for my mother and Yvonne's panic to turn into smug satisfaction."That's right. You think you're safe just because you got the spot?" Yvonne's eyes were filled with malice and jealousy. "You're not going to attend a single university if Mom and Dad refuse to pay for your tuition!"I felt something cold chilling my bones. I clenched my teeth as I looked at my parents. "I don't understand. So, you're saying you won't pay for university?"My mother assumed that I was spooked by my father's threat. So, she shot back smugly, "Oh, we can pay for it, but you have to give Yvonne your spot. Confess you cheated, repeat the year, get into college, and we'll pay.""Confess I've cheated, and I am banned from the exam forever." I stared into my mother's eyes. "My future is over if I confess to something I've never done!""So what? What matters is that Yvonne's future won't be ruined!" my m

I knew things were far more serious than they looked after my conversation with Maya. I wanted to call the cops right then and there, but she said the cops might drag things out in their quest to leave no stones unturned. If that happened, it might hurt my chances despite my guaranteed spot. So, she called the reporters for me.These reporters were already curious about the truth after they saw the videos taken by the school's students. Once they received Maya's call, they followed me to my house. That was why I'd deliberately kept my tongue in the beginning. I wanted to use this opportunity to draw the truth out of Yvonne's mouth. She played into my hands like the dumb bimbo she was, letting the truth slip in a moment of arrogance. The cops later found the other part of the earphone set in Yvonne's room. The proctor was found to be in cahoots with Yvonne because he'd taken a bribe from my father. Soon, the authorities had enough evidence to bang the gavel down.Yvonne was foun

Chapter 10

I kept up my job as a tutor. One evening, my student requested an extra session at the last minute. It was already long past 10 p.m after classes ended. When I left the villa district, I couldn't help but notice that something was off. I was being followed. Just when I was about to call the cops, I heard a shrill voice screeching, "Emilia, you bitch!"I turned back only to be met with a disheveled Yvonne charging at me. She had her arms out like some demented walking tree. Her knobby arms were wrapped around me before I could even react. Nevertheless, what came out of her mouth was nothing but filth."You slut! I lost everything because of you. Yet, you dare seduce Yves? I'll kill you!""Let me go!" I yelled. The ambush caught me by surprise, so I pushed her back with every ounce of strength in my body. She staggered and fell to the ground, but there was still fire in her as she jabbed a finger at me."I lost everything! I don't care what happens to me now! I'll take you to hell
