CHAPTER ONE

Ondina's POV"I want to be your wife, Ezra. Will you marry me?"I knelt on the cold tiles of the balcony and looked up at him. My chest tightened with hope. I spent the entire banquet rehearsing these words. We spent seven years together. Seven years of me waiting for him to be ready. Tonight, I finally gathered the courage to ask him."I love you more than anything," I said, my voice carrying into the night. "I want us to build a home together. I want to finally have the children you keep telling me we should wait for. Please, say yes."Ezra stared down at me. He did not blink for a long second. He did not say a word. He just looked at me kneeling on the floor. Then, he laughed. He did not let out a nervous chuckle. He let out a loud, cruel roar of laughter. The sound echoed into the quiet night sky. A terrible wave of nausea hit my stomach before he even opened his mouth to speak."How bold of you, fat pig," Ezra said.He wiped a tear from his eye. He looked at me like I just told t

CHAPTER TWO

Ondina's POV"I am so sorry, sissy," Ivy said, her voice shaking just enough to sound real to everyone else. "I tried to let him go. I really did. But I love him so much. And I am pregnant."The words hit my chest hard. I stared at her flat stomach. Pregnant."Pregnant?" I asked, my voice cracking completely. "You are pregnant with my boyfriend's child?""He is not your boyfriend anymore," Ivy cried loudly. She buried her face into Ezra's chest. "Please do not yell at me, Ondina. I did not mean for this to happen. We just could not fight the mate bond anymore.""The mate bond?" I repeated, looking straight at Ezra. "You told me we had to wait for children. You told me we needed to be more settled first. You told me the timing was not right.""The timing was not right for you," Ezra replied coldly. He wrapped his arms securely around my sister. "I never wanted to wait to be a father. I just did not want to have a child with you.""You used me," I screamed at him, taking a step forward.

CHAPTER THREE

Talon's POV"I am completely done searching, Kara," I said, standing outside the grand doors of the royal house."You cannot just give up, Talon," my sister replied, crossing her arms."You are thirty years old," Kara said, stepping in front of me to block my path. "Our pack needs a Luna to lead alongside you. The elders are getting impatient. I am getting impatient. You cannot just stop looking.""The elders can wait," I told her, keeping my voice calm. "And you can mind your own business. I will not force a bond just to make the pack happy.""I am your sister," she argued. "Your happiness is my business.""Then let me be happy alone," I said flatly. "I am going back to the hotel."I turned around to leave. Then, a scent hit me.It hit me so hard my knees almost buckled. It smelled like fresh rain and sweet vanilla. I stopped walking immediately. I breathed in deeply."Talon," Kara whispered, grabbing my arm tightly. "You smell that too, do you not?""I do," I answered, my voice roug

CHAPTER FOUR

Ondina's POV"VIP patient in room four. Sperm extraction and freezing. Get in there now."I took the chart from my supervisor without looking up. "Yes, ma'am. I am on my way.""Do not mess this up, Ondina," she warned sharply. "This client pays a lot of money to the pack hospital. Everything must be perfect.""I know," I muttered.I did not even glance at the patient details on the paper. My body felt heavy and exhausted. I cried until my throat burned the night before. When I woke up this morning, I cried all over again because for one tiny, stupid second before my eyes opened, I forgot what happened. I thought my life was still normal. I thought Ezra still loved me.I almost called in sick. But the head nurse already hated my guts, and giving her another excuse would only invite more misery. So I dragged myself into my fresh nurse uniform and came to work.I pushed the heavy door of room four open and walked inside.I froze instantly. He sat comfortably on the medical bed in a stand
