Wren’s POVI stared at Callum.I couldn’t seem to find the words to respond. He looked entirely too pleased with himself, leaning against the doorframe of my door as if showing up at my room and inviting me to his party was the most natural thing in the world.I was still trying to understand how he even knew my name. How he knew my room. And why he had come looking for me.Before I could put any of those questions together, his lips curved into that infuriating smirk again. “I’ll see you at the party.”My eyebrows shot up. I opened my mouth. “I never said I was-”“CAL!”A loud voice echoed from the end of the hallway.Callum glanced over his shoulder. One of his teammates was standing several doors down, waving impatiently.“Come on!”Callum looked back at me. For some reason, the interruption made his smile even wider. “Got to go. See you soon.” Then he winked and walked away.I stood there, frozen. My eyes followed him until he disappeared around the corner. Then I blinked. Once.

Wren’s POVBy eight-thirty, Pri had completely taken over our room. Clothes were scattered across my bed. Shoes were lined up on the floor. Makeup covered half her desk. And somehow, she had convinced me to sit with my back to the mirror while she worked her magic.“Stop fidgeting,” she muttered, running a hot iron through my curls.“I can’t,” I muttered.“If you move one more time, I’ll burn you with the iron.”I forced myself to stay still after that. I wouldn’t put anything past Pri when she was in this mood. She was completely in her fashion-student element right now.She finally stepped back with a satisfied smirk. I palmed my newly straightened hair. “I feel ridiculous.”She fake gasped. “You mean ridiculous-ly gorgeous?”I sighed. She ignored me and started on my makeup immediately. The makeover had happened faster than I expected. And, strangely, it didn’t feel like a makeover at all.She didn’t pile makeup onto my face or force me into something I didn’t want to wear. She s

Wren’s POV ‘I can’t breathe.’ That was my first coherent thought. My second was that I was sitting on Callum Ferreira’s lap. Somehow, those two facts were connected. I’d barely stopped coughing when Cal had reached out, grabbed my waist, and pulled me on his lap. I didn’t even had time to protest. Now his arms were wrapped securely around my waist, one hand resting against my side as if having me sitting on his lap was the most natural thing in the world. It wasn’t. At least, it wasn’t natural to me. I swallowed hard, trying to catch my breath. “Easy,” Cal murmured into my ear. He was too close. Too close for comfort. How was I supposed to be easy when I was sitting on the hockey captain’s lap in front of half of his team? I tried to move. His arm tightened. Not enough to hurt me but just enough to make it clear that I wasn’t going anywhere. My eyes widened. “Cal-” He ignored me. Instead, he turned toward the guys sitting around us. “So, did you guys see that se

Wren’s POVApparently, sitting on chairs was no longer acceptable. For some reason, everyone decided we needed to move to the floor for the game.I almost smiled. Finally. I was going to get off Cal’s lap. As everyone else got off the chairs and began to arrange themselves into a circle crosslegged on the floor.I shifted forward, placed my legs against the floor and began to push myself up, ready to stand. Suddenly, Cal’s arm tightened around my waist. No!He dragged me back onto his lap fully. I turned to look at him. He didn’t even look back. Instead, he simply waited while everyone else dragged cushions onto the floor and arranged themselves into a circle.Within minutes, everyone was seated. Everyone except us. I cringed inside. Cal remained in his chair with me on his lap, towering above the circle like he had absolutely no intention of moving.I stared at him. He looked completely comfortable. I was anything but comfortable. I was painfully aware of every inch of him beneath m
