All Chapters of My Mother, My Murderer: Chapter 1 - Chapter 8

"Still faking it? You're really committed."The front door was pushed open. Mom was back.I was still curled up on the floor, the pain in my stomach feeling like tens of thousands of spinning blades. My fingers had long since scratched deep, bloody marks into the hardwood. But a tiny spark of hope flared in my heart. Mom was the lead healer of the pack. She must have realized I was actually sick."Mom... help me. It hurts so much." I used every ounce of my strength to reach out to her.But she mercilessly kicked my hand away. Her eyes were filled with cold disgust."Your acting is getting better and better, April," she sneered, looking down at me.Right behind her, Mia skipped in like a light butterfly. She completely ignored me rolling on the floor in agony and ran straight to the entryway cabinet."Found it! Mom, my purse is right here!" Mia held up a rhinestone-studded bag, smiling with pure innocence. They hadn't come back to save me at all. They just came back for a purse.Grandma

The next morning, sunlight spilled through the hallway windows. But the storage closet remained dark."Mia, wake up! Today Mom is taking you to the high-end mall downtown. Let's go pick out some new dresses!"Mom intentionally raised her voice so it would carry clearly through the closet door. I knew she was saying it for me to hear.Because my closet was filled entirely with Mia's hand-me-downs. My biggest wish had always been to go shopping with Mom, just once, to buy a new piece of clothing that was actually mine. Even if it was just a cheap t-shirt.But back then, Mom just looked coldly at my glowing red ring and said, "Wicked liars don't deserve new clothes."I floated in the air, smiling bitterly at the door.Mom, I'm never going to need new clothes again.Grandma was packing her bags in the hallway. Hearing the commotion, she asked casually, "Has April still not come out to apologize?""Leave her be!" Samantha yelled angrily. "She's stubborn to the bone. She won't even say a sin

Bang! The door slammed hard against the wall. Light poured into the dim closet. Her eyes immediately landed on me on the carpet. For three days, I had maintained that same painful, curled-up posture, completely unmoving. To Samantha, this was undoubtedly just another provocation."Are you still playing dead?!"She grabbed the collar at the back of my neck, intending to drag me up violently."Get up! You filthy little liar!"But the moment she touched me, Samantha froze. The furious rage on her face instantly solidified into blank, bewildered shock.Because she felt it.That wasn't the warm, strong flesh of a werewolf. It was a bone-chilling, rigid stiffness."...April?" her voice suddenly grew incredibly weak, carrying a slight tremble.Because she had pulled with so much force, the momentum sent her stumbling backward. And my stiff corpse, pulled by her grip, flipped straight over.My face, which had been buried in my arms, was entirely exposed to the light.I floated near the ceiling

"You can't handle it already?"Another enforcer walked down from upstairs. He was holding a few worn-out journals. His eyes were red, and he gritted his teeth. "The pain your daughter went through is ten thousand times worse than what you're feeling right now!"He marched to the center of the living room, opened one of the yellowing notebooks, and read aloud:February 14th. Valentine's Day. Today I accidentally ate a chocolate that had nuts in it, but I'm severely allergic. My throat swelled up, I couldn't breathe, and my heart was beating so fast. Because my heart sped up, the ring glowed again and started burning my hand horribly. The enforcer's voice choked up a bit. He took a deep breath and continued: I was in so much pain I threw up blood. But Mom came over, saw the blood on the floor, and said I spilled tomato juice just to get out of being punished. She thought I was lying again, so she just watched me suffer for ten minutes. I thought I was going to die that day. Mom, I really
