Semua Bab I Died To Prove My Mother Was Fair: Bab 1 - Bab 8

When consciousness returned, the ceiling lights had blurred into pale moons. A high ringing filled my ears, and gray shadows crowded the edges of my vision.Mom's hand was on my shoulder."Lyra, look at me."I managed to focus on her face."Mom, they cannot take more. My medical file has a permanent donation restriction."Her expression changed at once. She turned to Tessa."Is that true?""She was diagnosed with marrow insufficiency," Tessa admitted. "But today's screening qualified her."She held up the tablet.[HEMOGLOBIN: 12.6 g/dL][ELIGIBLE TO DONATE]The number looked clean and official. It was also a lie.I shook my head as hard as my weakness allowed.Tessa sighed."She asked me to record someone else's unit under her name. When I refused, she began claiming the machine was wrong."Mom's eyes went cold."Lyra, do you understand how serious it is to falsify a donation record?""I...""Enough."That one word had ended every argument between us since I was old enough to speak.Th

Beyond the curtain, the blood drive had become a celebration. The Council representative read out the final numbers to wave after wave of applause.[SILVERPINE PACK: 100% COMPLETE][EVELYN HART: PROMOTION REVIEW APPROVED]Hearing Mom's name brought me a strange peace. She had succeeded. As the screen went dark, my heart slowed. The celebration beyond the curtain drifted farther away until it sounded like rain falling in another world.A thread of silver light rose from my chest. My wolf stood within it, waiting.I looked down at the girl on the cot. Her face was white. One arm hung over the edge, bruised from wrist to elbow. She looked asleep except that her chest no longer moved. So I had truly died....I did not follow my wolf into the light. I passed through the curtain and followed Mom's scent upstairs to the temporary command office. She sat at a table signing the final report. An open silver badge case rested beside her. The Council representative explained that once the backgro

Mom remained beside the cot, clutching my hand as if her warmth could travel backward through time."Try again," she kept saying. "Her wolf makes her stronger than a human. She survived so much when she was little. She can survive this."The paramedic turned the monitor toward her."Evelyn, she is dead."Mom flinched: "Do not call her that. Her name is Lyra. She is my daughter."Pack security sealed the bay. The collection machine, staff tablets, records, and the bag containing my blood became evidence.Tessa stood outside the curtain."Her screening passed. I followed the procedure. She could answer questions. How was I supposed to know she would suddenly collapse?""Were you responsible for both her screening and collection?" the security officer asked."Yes, but she agreed to continue. Evelyn was present."Mom slowly faced her."You said it was a vasovagal reaction. You said her vital signs were fine.""That was what the equipment showed. She kept moving, which is why the needle had

The investigations lasted six months.Tessa lost her medical license and faced criminal charges for falsifying records, performing an unlawful collection, and failing to obtain emergency care. Her attorney argued that she had not known I would die.The prosecutor answered, "She did not need to predict death. She needed to stop when the machine displayed DONATION PROHIBITED."The final report did not excuse Mom. Although she had not altered the data herself, she used her authority to place me in a situation where refusal was not real. She knew my history. She heard me ask to stop. She placed her professional image above my safety. She was permanently barred from the Regional Pack Relief Agency. The Council revoked the promotion and created independent medical screening rules for every pack drive. No event director could interfere with donor eligibility. Donation totals could never again be tied directly to an individual official's promotion.Mom did not appeal. The prosecutor ultimately
