Chapter 1

After the former Alpha died in battle, Leo Scott inherited his brother's position as Alpha and took it upon himself to care for his widowed sister-in-law, Camille Ashford. When our pack discovered a moonspirit crystal, something that appeared only once in a century, Leo immediately gave it to Camille's son, Lucas Scott. When I, Ivy Reid, asked about it, Leo used the leftover fragments to make Raye Scott, our daughter, a bracelet.Camille was physically weak, so Leo didn't hesitate to give her and Lucas the finest residence in the entire pack territory. As for me, during the battle for the Alpha position years ago, I had thrown myself in front of Leo more times than I could count. I took countless potentially fatal attacks to protect him.Yet now, he had relegated me to the coldest, most desolate wing of the pack estate.I had endured this for far too long. I only held on this long for Raye.Since Leo no longer cared about his mate and pup, I had no reason to cling to our relatio

Raye trembled. It took her a long moment to process what I had said."I'll go find the pack elder right away and ask about the process for dissolving a mate bond!"Her eyes glistened with determination. It made my heart ache.Raye had first suggested dissolving my mate bond with Leo three years ago.Everything had changed after the former Luna, Camille, returned to the pack and moved into the residence with Lucas.Leo was the Alpha of our pack.Whenever Raye brought her homework to him and asked for guidance, he would frown and say he was too busy to teach her. However, all Camille had to do was ask, and Leo would devote enormous amounts of time and energy to train Lucas every single day. This went on for three years.Leo hadn't attended a single one of Raye's evaluations, but whenever Lucas faced a trial, Leo was there without exception.I'd argued with him and confronted him about this.I'd asked if he no longer wanted our family, but Leo always remained cold and detached

"Why do you always have to be so unreasonable?"Leo looked thoroughly irritated. His gaze shifted to Raye behind me."I can see your influence on Raye. Neither of you has the composure a werewolf in our pack should have!"I smiled."We've been calm for long enough."I took Raye's ice-cold hand in mine."If you refuse to leave, then I'll leave with Raye."The front door slammed shut behind us, and Leo's footsteps gradually faded away."Mom, I'm sorry." Raye clutched the hem of her shirt. "It's all because of me that you two keep fighting," she said softly. My heart immediately ached."Raye, listen to me. None of this has ever been your fault."We'll pack our things and stay somewhere else for now. Once the paperwork is finalized, I'll take you back to my pack. Okay?"Raye's eyes welled with tears as she nodded firmly. The next morning, Leo finally realized we were gone for good.He didn't try to win us back. He simply contacted me through mind-link.[Still not coming home

By the time I reached the healer's den, I was drenched in sweat and shaking uncontrollably.Thankfully, Raye wasn't seriously injured. Other than a mild concussion, she was fine. When she slowly opened her eyes and saw me, tears immediately rolled down her cheeks."Mom, when it was time to pay the medical bills, I realized the money in my account had been transferred out."All twenty grand have gone missing."My mind went completely blank. Those twenty grand were the private savings I had built up little by little over the years. I had cut back on everything and saved every penny I could.I had planned to save enough money to leave with Raye and return to my maternal pack.Raye had been robbed and refused to hand over the money. Enraged, the rogues knocked her unconscious and left her on the side of the road.Only two werewolves knew the password to that bank account. Apart from me, there was only one other werewolf I could think of.I immediately returned to the pack and sla

"Mom, should we answer him?" Raye turned to look at me and asked calmly.I raised my hand and gently ruffled her hair."I'll do it."I accepted the mind-link connection.Leo's impatient voice immediately filled my mind."Ivy! Where are you? Why haven't you responded to any of my messages?"What do those mate-bond dissolution papers you left in my study mean? And what's this document about Raye severing her paternal relationship?"He paused for a moment. He sounded impatient."We had a simple argument. Raye is already an adult. Is she really going to act on impulse just because you are?"I silently listened to him vent.Only after he was done did I speak coldly."Leo, the one who isn't thinking clearly is you."The mate-bond dissolution papers mean exactly what they say. I'm ending our relationship. I want you to confirm it with your Alpha's werewolf seal."And the document severing her paternal relationship means Raye no longer wants you as her father. She chose to come wi

Leo's stomach dropped. The upperclassman handed him the unclaimed admission documents."Raye won't be coming for orientation. You should keep her admission papers for her."The upperclassman sighed softly before continuing."She had difficulty moving that day and showed up in a wheelchair to personally complete the paperwork to give up her place."I thought she would need a long time to recover. I never expected her to leave so soon and return to her mother's pack to continue her studies."Leo staggered back a step.It turned out everything I had said was true.Raye really had been attacked and ended up in the healer's den, but he never even went to see her once."Leo? What are you doing here?"The dean walked out and frowned deeply when he saw the devastated look on Leo's face."Forgive me for being blunt, but no matter how busy you are with pack affairs, you should still make time for your own pup."On the night of Raye's coming-of-age ceremony, she waited there alone for

Raye and I lived peaceful, fulfilling lives in my maternal pack.On the very first day we returned, my dad arranged a private residence for us.Raye stood there staring at the spacious rooms. Her eyes were full of surprise.Dad smiled and ruffled her hair."Raye, you're home now. You don't have to suffer anymore."She had never received this kind of treatment in Leo's pack.In the past, I had saved wherever I could, keeping every bit of money I had for Raye's education and future. Here, everything was different.Mom constantly sent Raye valuable training resources. The elders of the pack and the young werewolves of our clan welcomed us warmly.Raye's life in my maternal pack was busy yet happy.During the week, she stayed in her college dorm.On weekends, she returned home to stay with me.We ate together and talked. We went shopping. Together, we kept our little home neat and comfortable."You know something?"An old warrior from my maternal pack, a longtime friend of m

I didn't know how Leo had managed to find our place.I only saw him standing outside the gate with a bouquet of flowers that had been bathed in moonlight.Raye and I were about to have dinner."Mom, look outside–" Raye gently tugged at my sleeve."I-Is that him?"She didn't call him 'Dad.'I calmly got up and headed outside."What are you doing here?" I asked directly.Leo's body went stiff. He held the bouquet out to me."I heard that Raye ranked first in her latest round of exams."I-I came with flowers for her."The once proud and authoritative Alpha now stood before me with a humble demeanor. When I didn't accept the flowers, he quickly retrieved a gift box."This is a birthday present for Raye. It's to make up for the one I missed."I didn't reach for the box.My gaze landed on the wolf-fang bracelet around Leo's wrist. It was the same bracelet he had cruelly thrown away when Lucas gave him a new gift.I didn't know how Leo had found it again."Leo."I finally s
