Selene's POV Cold water dripped from the hem of my dress, gathering beneath my feet in tiny puddles as I staggered into the hall. With every step, every muscle in my body screamed in protest, my eyes burned from exhaustion and the back of my head throbbed with every heartbeat. Theon's POV — The doors closed behind Selene with a heavy thud and only then did I allow myself another look. "Alpha..." Elder Rowan's voice pulled me back. "The gravity of the accusation demands immediate action. The Luna should not be confined to her chambers, she should be taken into custody." A murmur of agreement swept through the council. Another elder stepped forward. "Luna Selene stands accused of causing the death of the late Alpha's heir. Should she be found guilty, it is a capital offense. Until the investigation is concluded, allowing her the freedom of her own chambers would be both reckless and inappropriate." I remained silent, letting them finish. "The council has not reached a verdict," I said finally. "Nor has the Luna been given fair hearing." "Yes, Alpha, but Lady Cora has identified her as the one responsible," Rowan replied. "And Lady Cora's testimony deserves to be heard," I replied. "Just as much as Selene's." "We have already heard them both,"
