Chapter 1 - Late to meet her mate

Mina POV-“Goddess... Mina. Slow... Down!” Chloe puffs, as she tries to keep up. “I can’t,” Mina shouts over her shoulder. “My mum’s going to kill me if I’m late for my presentation.” Chloe might have answered but after a couple hours of training, the woman looked about ready to keel over, let alone try and speak through her wheezes.

Chapter 2 - The presentation

Mina POV - Her dress is too tight, her heels pinch her feet and the quick layer of make-up she’d slapped on before her mother demanded she came down, feels thick in the warm packhouse hall.

Chapter 3 - Her mate

If mingling in the crowd had Mina feeling like a deer facing down a pack of hungry wolves, being on stage made her feel like she was being dressed for their feast. They all watch every move she makes. Some critical, some admiring but all judging in some way or another. She doesn’t know how she could get her presentation wrong, but somehow, under their eyes, she fears it. A wrong move, a wrong decision, a wrong word causing a back lash to Clear Blue that’d be all her fault.

Chapter 4 - Alley shadows

Mina POV - Mina isn’t sure how she manages to keep her composure on stage or stand beside her brother and Chloe while her mother closes up the formal part of the celebration. But she does it. She has to. What’s her other choice? To make a fool of herself in front of all their allies by running into the crowd after Alastor or immediately apologising to Owen? She isn’t even sure what she is even going to say to either of them.

Chapter 5 - Not you

Mina POV-“Was that asshole annoying you again?” Owen asks with a half-hearted laugh. Mina ignores the spike of anger wanting her to rush to Alastor’s defence but keeps her eyes on him as he leaves the alley, watching him until he’s out of sight and feeling a heavy disappointment when he doesn't look back at her. She can feel the need within her to follow him, but she wouldn’t be able to explain it to Owen.

Chapter 6 - Mate questions

Mina POV - “Williamina!” Her mother shouts, dragging her attention back to the Luna’s office where they are having her afternoon tea with Luna Evelyn and Luna Chelsea.

Chapter 7 - A gift

Mina POV-Alastor calls off training for the rest of the day and Mina watches from under the tree as the warriors slowly leave the field. They’re all smiling and most nod their respects to him as they go. It’s nice to watch but a hollow detachment lodges in her chest. Her mother trained her to be apart from the individuals of the pack to maintain her authority, but something within her itches to be on that field with them. Training, talking, being among her packmates. Maybe when she is Luna she can do it. Until then, she has to play by her mother’s rules.

Chapter 8 - Private Training

Mina POV-“You’re alive! I was certain my brother had eaten you and made for the hills.” Mina grins as Chloe arrives as the training field, running a few minutes late for their first private session with Alastor. “Oh he ate me alright. Over and over and over and...”

Chapter 9 - An unexpected visitor

Mina POV-When Mina comes down for dinner, she knows something isn’t quite right, but she can’t put her finger on what. Maybe it’s the formal dinner her mum had requested at short notice or the large number of chairs around the table, as if they are expecting guests, but she looks around the hall waiting for the surprise to come. Chapter 10 - Murder or forgiveness

Mina POV-Mina is jogging around the training field when she feels another tug of a mindlink, but she ignores it. It's Alastor again. She knows it is. He's been trying to talk to her ever since the dinner the night before and she hasn't been ready to listen. Not last night when she was in bed, not this morning at breakfast and certainly not now he is across the field and meant to be focused on Chloe. Though she wanted to, she couldn't say no to coming to the training session, not without looking suspicious, but that doesn’t mean she has to be anything but civil with him.
